Something Grix said made me think about these forums and I'm realising more and more that I'm getting bored with it all.

Some threads are interesting and I like to get involved in them, but mostly I find them dull and lifeless.
Now I'm not saying they are, I'm saying that I find them that way.
Now this is going to sound a tad rude and some may take offence, but that's also part of the reason I'm posting less and less:

I post crap here mainly because it passes the time whilst I'm at work, but in another forum here I tend to be more serious and engage in chat/debate.
Because an awful lot of threads are full of dyslexic, hostile screaming babies that can't decide what they want for tea anymore than they can reasonably discuss which console they prefer.
It's always "This console is best and the others suck".
They're just bloody games machines.
If you spent half as much time thinking and learning as you do scrapping over games consoles, it wouldn't feel like I was Diane Fossey quite so much.
And the sad thing is, about 10% of people will get what I mean.
And I don't use phrases like that to be big and clever, I use them because that's how I talk.
But it ends up with "I fink dis console is da best m8" and it makes me despair.

There are posters here that I value and chat to, email, send them CDs etc, but for the most part I can't be bothered to log on and join in.
Partly because I just don't care.
What's the average age of people here?
13-17? That's cool, but I'm 28.
When I want to try and discuss things that interest me like politics and religion, life and love etc, there's no point because idiots clog it up with mindless comments garnered from playground mates and it descends into furious arguing, yet totally groundless and based on nothing more than "Well I've heard" or "You're wrong" without a willingness to discuss on a level approaching adult.

"Xbox sucks" "No PS2 does" "No, Gaycube does"
Jesus christ, they all suck ok? They're all just hobbies to pass the time.
A discussion is where somebody says "I disagree, however I can remain neutral and try to explain my viewpoint reasonably" without it descending into hair pulling and spitting.
I know I'm opinionated, I know I mouth off.
But it's never serious and I always, always accept when I'm in the wrong and, more importantly, I am willing to listen to other people just in case I learn something.

This is a very cool set of forums, customer service is second to none and you can actually converse with staff members and sometimes, the owner of the company.
You don't get that anywhere else on the web.
But the weight of absolute trivia and mindless tail-chasing is really starting to get to me.

This isn't me saying "These forums must change", this is me saying "I'm getting fed up with it to be honest".
I have better things to do than read yet another topic about "Why the xbox is da worst and u all know it".

I'm going to sleep now for 4hrs before I get up and do it all again.
I'm not saying "Right, I'm off".
I'm just saying that it's getting harder and harder to make the effort anymore.

Hum.

Goatboy, I read your posts. Thus, if you go I will be sorry.

Yeah, there is a lot of crap around. That's because not everyone can post as well as the best here can. Some people have a knack for it, others don't. I personally don't, but I try to post good stuff as best I can.

Which is why you don't see my posts around very much. I'm probably on here for about 1-2 hours a night, but in that time i'll post maybe 5 times. That's because I have nothing to say on the topic, what I would say has already been said, or I cannot post in that topic without my comments looking pathetic next to some of the great stuff that has been posted by others.

Hum. I just started talking about myself. Silly me.

I see Dan on MSN quite often, never on here though.

Or MWA, he was around a while ago, but seems to have disappeared again.

Game's online often, been a while since I saw him post. MWA's in the music forum.

And where the hell is Pseudo Savant? Haven't
> seen him for MONTHS.

Pseudo Savant left ages ago. He said he was pithed off with newbies being bustards to him because he was American.

Who is going to call people dirty Sanchez? Or slate their music tastes? G-g-g-g-gareth G-g-g-gates may take control If you leave.

Seriously though (the stuff above was too by the way) you are one of a few who stand up and have their OWN opinion, reconsider staying around and posting in your own way.

I'm 86 and I went away and came back again only because this place went all mouldy but then I found other forums, like you said, which are more intresting to debate etc. That's what forums and topics and all the other stuff under that is about right?

We'll always have the idiots, that will never change. But if a few of us, as many as possible just think before we post then maybe this will be a better place to post and to actually enjoy.

Otherwise we'll see the better posters out there going.

Shame.

Goaty, you've made some fair comments, but also some unfair ones.

I can understand why you say a lot of the things you do, I, for example, don't hang around in this forum as much as I once did, unless I find that there's something fun to chat about. So I hang out in other forums, as you mentioned. But the thing is, if you're 28, and most of us including me are between 13 and 17, then why come here?

I'm not saying you shouldn't be here, it's just that it seems a bit weird that you come to a place on the internet to talk mainly with people over 10 years younger than you. I can understand why you do come here, as you might find people who you do get on with, despite age, but the thing is, you're on so much!

It is annoying that there are always pointless topics about which console is better, but they are usually started by newbies, who haven't been here yet. I know I usually joke about this sort of thing, but technically, how do the newbies know that this topic hasn't been posted a million times over? They haven't been here before! For all they know, they might think upon arrival that all these users are 10 year olds! They dont actually know, do they? Unless of course, they do, which just makes them thick.

What I'm trying to say is, I can understand why you're angry, but you're a good poster, so don't leave or something (I know, you didn't say you were).

It's nothing personal. It just seems a lot of people like the way things are here and don't want others to come along and ruin it. For an optimist, change is a good thing. For a pessemist, it's a bad thing.
