"USB modems Worse than Serial?"

I heard from someone that USB modems give bad pinmgs compared to serial modems. Thisd is based on the SupraExpress modem. Is it true?

Because whever a device is plugged in, especially USB devices, the drivers are loaded and the computer monitors the device's status and messages to the device.

Basically, the more stuff you have connected to your PC (and that includes cards inside it), the slower it will run.

You sure? it's lke saying, unplug your printer/scanner/speakers, erm, everything thats plugged into your pc, pretty sure if it's not being used it wouldn't be doing anything, idle, as if it wasn't there.
But when you say marginal, do you mean completly un noticed?

Actually, it will have an effect, just that it'd be extremely marginal.

USB doesn't affect your ping...so Uncle Albert says :D it affects your framerate, and considering your not using your camera during the game, I doubt it will do anything.

so if I unplug my camera before I play a online game my ping will improve?

The thing about USB peripherals (and this includes modems) is that it takes up CPU cycles. So, although it won't affect your internet connection (and ping), it WILL affect system performance, i.e. a lower framerate.

this for 56k modems or cable?

90wpm pretty sure you don't type that fast normally, if so, it's probably not the keyboards fault...whoa 90wpm....
