well, maybe not crap but not exactly what I'd call good anyway. I just got a PS2 a couple of months ago, and I have to admit that the only PSone sequel I've actually been impressed by is GTA3 (which is probably the best game EVER). The problems I've found with the other PSone sequels are as follows:
GT3: boring - 2 hours to finish a race! -what the hells that about?
SLOW - try playing burnout for 15 mins then going back to playing GT3 - you'll see what I mean.
NO CAR DAMAGE - theres nothing quite as satisfying as smashing up a shiny new car!
Metal gear 2 - IT'S NOT A GAME - its a movie that you occaisionally get to interact with
I haven't seen a game this linear since.......well, final fantasy 9 actually
Too easy - if you skip all the cut scenes you can complete it in a few hours
Final fantasy X - I've just finished playing a demo of it and I've got to say I'm not impressed
- It's as linear as ever and suffers from INTERACTIVE MOVIE SYNDROME
- sure it looks nice, but shouldn't there be a GAME in there some where?
- If they're going to make it into an Interactive movie shouldn't they at least use a decent plot? - they're all the same for god sake!
Having said that, the PS2 has come up with a very good crop of original games, such as SSX, Burnout, Agent under fire, Dropshop, Star wars starfighter, and the excellent Devil may cry. It's just a shame that none of the old PSone games have faired well in the conversion - sadly, they all seem to of traded gameplay for graphics. Oh well I've had my little rant, Igotta go and take out my anger on some innocent civillians in GTA3 now, see ya!
I'm fed up of everybody just assuming GT3 is great just because the first two were. GT3 should of been the best racing game ever, but it just turned out to be an above average racer. and as for GT concept - don't even get me started on that!
By the way wasn't anybody even the slightest bit p*ssed off that you only got a couple of new tracks in the game? - thats £40 for 2 new tracks, less cars and slower gameplay!
can anyone recomend a great multiplayer game for the PS2? - I still haven't found a goldeneye or mario Kart beater yet.
FFX is a master piece, it should last for ages, it took me a month to complete FF7.Ok, for some the gameplay in final fantasy games is slow but for me and alot of other people it is perfect.
The main thing that has let me down about ps2 is the longetivity of games, i remember when i would get games for my n64 and they would last me from my birthday till christmas (half a year) but most ps2 games last me a week.
It's a decent game, don't get me wrong, with a plethora of cars and tracks, but, in my humble opinion, doesn't look or feel as good as MSR on the Dreamcast. Arguably GT3 is more realistic, but for me it's second class.
Only bright point is that I bought it in the Platinum range for £20.... pheeew!

too true

Only platformers? You know, Mario 64 was the only platformer made by Nintendo on the N64.

I agree Nintendo make some good platformers but thats all they really make. To be honest I only need one and Maximo, Jak and Daxter or Crash Bandicoot is good enough for me.
Try Jak & Daxter and/or
> Maximo.
Yeh..
im trying to decide from them two,
any idea which is better?
I heard J+D is really good

I'm not saying that they're crap games, just that they could of been SO much better. There are a lot of better games out on the PS2, it's just that all the hype seems to be surrounding the sequels, and when they came out no-one seems to of noticed that they're not much of an improvement from the old PSone.
