* !!!!!!!!!HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!! *
> > I feel the first rarely and the second often.
{Raises eyebrow} And what do you have to feel guilty for? ;-)
There is some comfort in the first but none in the second.
I feel the first rarely and the second often.

Sage words, but remember that the crusades were a religious effort, as is palestine, and the irish were oppressed because they were stupid and made substandard potatoes.

Perhaps we shouldn't, but if one does not fear the past, one cannot avoid atrocity in the future.

I believe that the war of Independence was after this event. See my last comments as well.
A matter of discussion perhaps. It's certainly interesting how history can be changed to suit the occasion.

Yes, but they decided they didn't like being british didn't they? War of Independance anyone? Come independance day, will this fool expect us to be thankful for getting booted out of America by a bunch of rapists and pillagers?
America has too many holidays, a result of trying to create a culture from nothing in the span of a few short centuries.
Look, a bird shat on my head, rejoice and let this day forever more be known as "Damn filthy pigeon day". Stupidity.

He's right, what about the crusades, the Irish famine, india and the whole palestine fiasco.
But then again why should we feel guilty for stuff that we had no control over, that happened before we were born and that only applies to us because we live in this country

Um, actually, we did. It wasn't long after we were populating America that this happened. Where do you think half the pilgrims came from?
