i10 is a massive LAN, biggest in the UK - basically, if a game has a multiplayer mode, there will be someone playing it. The idea is to take your PC to the Newbury Racecourse for 4 days, meet a lot of like-minded gamers, have fun and take lots of embaressing photos of drunk people to bribe them with later..
Entry is £70, which may seem fairly steep, but it does cover all 4 days, and most of the staff are volunteers - the money goes towards equipment for the next event. This is the biggest yet, 1000 gamers, should be excellent. It's also the first UK public showcase of the Xbox - 8 Xboxes running networked multiplayer Halo, each with a 50" plasma display, up to 16 players..
Tournaments of choice are Counter-Strike, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament and RTCW, but there are usually some free ones around the FTP servers and plenty of friendlies running on most other games.
If anyone's interested in this, the dates are March 29 - April 1 (Easter Bank Holiday weekend), you need your pc and some way of getting to the event - all the network kit is supplied. Be good to meet some of you there, and our CS clan is lacking a player - if anyone feels like filling this place, let me know, the only requirement is that you suck as much as the rest of us and don't take it seriously..
On another note...there is a /very/ strict no warez policy. Anyone caught trading warez over their network will have their PC confiscated and be removed fromt he event. It's been a big problem for other LANs, and if they are caught allowing it, the company can and almost certainly will be shut down - I've seen it happen to 2 others. Proposed solution was to shove giant electromagnet in the concourse and switch it on to wipe everyone's hdds when police arrived...think it got the thumbs down..
