Time to use the barrows as cover (long 2 metre long by 3/4 metre width tray, raised up on wheels which is piled up with boxes by the end of the day.) and remain invisible for 30 minutes.
The mission:
The barrows are set out into 10 rows with 12 barrows in each row. Each row of 12 barrows is split into 4 as 2 isles go between them so that workers can go into a different lane if they need to. The boxes stacked on them upto 8 feet high will provide plenty of cover from being seen.
There is a high risk of the supervisor entering the area to patrol around and catch anyone trying to skive off, so stealth and alertness is essential.
I, along with two others (Wayne and Rob) have to waste 30 minutes hiding after which we will sneak our way to the clocking out machine, swipe our cards and swiftly depart the building.
A lane will represent a straight path leading to the wall while an isle will represent a path between the rows of barrows.
So it begins...
17:00 hours:
The three of us make our way along one of the middle lanes and get ourselves out of view behind a couple of barrows in the second isle. We decide to hold the position as long as possible.
17:05 hours:
While quietly talking about football, er, old missions, we hear a sound. Wayne volunteers to go investigate. After about 30 seconds we hear the source of the sound when Wayne takes a bad turn and gets caught. "Waaaaaaaayne you lazy little sod, go help unload the lorry !"
Poor Wayne was done for, short of giving ourselves up and helping him so we all get out at 5:30, there was nothing we could do for him.
To avoid both of us getting caught, Rob and I decide to split up and fend for ourselves.
17:12 hours:
The supervisor is doing his rounds again. I've managed to avoid him and by the sounds of things (or lack of), so has Rob.
Problem is, I've ended up cornered and after looking under the barrows, I can see the supervisor making his way up the isle. To get out of the area I'm in, I need to get past the damn isle. All is not lost though, trusty Darren has left an empty coke can on a barrow right near me (he's the only one who drinks on the warehouse floor and always leaves the can somewhere other than the bin).
I grab it and work out a god direction to throw it where the supervisor won't see it flying through the air.
I then hurl the can and success ! The supervisor walks the opposite way. Unfortunatly for Rob he picked the wrong time to be where he was standing and the wrong time to shout out "Ow Sh..!"
Rob is then subjected to verbal earhole torture and sent to the lorry to help.
Just me left, Rob couldn't cut it.
17:18 hours:
Not sure where the supervisor currently is, I keep my back to the barrows and sneak carefully along. Unfortunatly some prat has stacked the boxes all crap on one barrow and my tactics end up up with 3 boxes crashing to the floor (has flashback of being the last one to throw a box on top of the pile earlier).
The supervisor gives away his location by a sudden "Oh christ, what now !?" He is pretty close, do I quietly run up the lane and risk bumping right into him ?
Instead, I quickly drop to the ground and move myself under a barrow. I watch the supervisor's feet as he picks up the boxes and puts them back on the barrow and then walks off - never realised how scummy, cold and hard this floor actually is.
17:25 hours:
I've dusted all the crap off my jumper and with 5 minutes left, its time to start planning my move to the clocking machine and rendevous with my contact - James.
Moving towards the last lane, I can see that the lorry is still being worked on, so there is a high risk of being kept in to help finish the job if I'm caught.
Currently waiting for my chance to go for the clocking machine.
17:28 hours:
The supervisor seems to be doing one final walkabout in the barrows. He makes his way up the lane next to mine (on my left). I need to exit on the right - Nows my chance !
I change to a crouched position and quietly but quickly move up the lane as there are gaps in certain box stacks that could get me caught if I remain in a normal stance.
I get out of the barrows, leaving that Communist pig, er, supervisor walking around them.
I quickly make my way to the clocking machine, using pallets and moved barrows for cover.
I meet up with my contact who for some reason is laughing his backside off - apparently he had been watching my mission from a good vantage point after my captured comrades had told him the details.
A 10 second wait that seems to last forever passes and I swipe myself out and swiftly make my way out of the building...
Mission Accomplished ! Although I don't think I like the new code name my contact is trying to give me - Sad Muppet. Hmmmmmmmm.
