I bought this game a while back and played it for two weeks solid - thats how long it took me to complete all the challenges on bronze. However, I am considering buying it back as I heard that the sequel wont be available until 2004. My only reservation is that I remember trying to get golds and finding it stupidly difficult to get many - the main reason I traded it in. Has anyone here actually completed the game?

Don't bother trying to get golds with the early cars as its impossible. I've got the Carrera GT, the second best car in the game and getting Golds is still a challange.

Heres what to do, race in Quick Race mode, get first in all races untill you unlock the Ferreri F1- a very nice car. Then with that you can start to tackle the main game properly, picking up golds is possible with this car. Be content with getting bronze medals as you're still getting Kudos, and when you hit 75, 000 kudos you'll gett the Delfino Feroce- a very very nice car. It handles perfectly, and completing Style challanges with it is much easier as it corners very well.

Keep plugging away, and you will get remards. Look underneth the Locked cars in the car list to see what's required to achieve them. Good luck. :P

Master the handbrake and you'll get many more kudos. Try to link kudos together to get really big multipliers- a must when doing some style challanges which require sometimes 3 flawless laps.

Use rear wheel drive cars aswell, helps when sliding although difficult to comtrol in the hands of inexperenced.

I read in OXM that it helps to play in 60HZ as the game runs faster. So over a 6 lap race you might be able to be 2 seconds faster playing in 60HZ mode than in 50HZ. You can notice a few more "jaggies" on the cars in 60HZ mode, but thats all. You've already started in 50HZ which means you can't change, but start agin if you get stuck.

Trust me, 60HZ helps in the long run.

Are you sure the 60HZ mode makes a difference to your lap times? How does that work then? Even if it does, I remember changing my XBOX setting to 60HZ, and PGR wouldnt load up as my saved game was in 50HZ, so I would lose all my medals.

By the way, do you use manual or automatic gears?

Big help- play in 60HZ mode. Makes your laptimes quicker, which can be vital to complete some of the later levels on golds.

I've pretty far. 175,000 kudos and lots of golds. Getting hard to complete some golds but its always fun and challanging, satisfying as hell when you do.

I'll probably pick it up of ebay as I need a good driving game. I have got a feeling that I wont have it long though as the golds are gonna be too hard to get. I dont know if it makes any difference, but I played the game in automatic as I found using manual gears was too much to do. I have got a feeling that you need to use manual gears to be able to get fast enough times to get gold medals, but I am not sure.
