Because in 3 years, they'll all be replaced with the newer versions and nobody will even care about the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube etc etc.
Really, you wont.
Just like Dreamcast, Playstations, Saturns etc, give it some time and you'll all be looking to the next consoles and arguing about which of those will be best.
And none of them will, because yet again they'll be replaced.

I still own a Spectrum, Gameboy, SNES, and N64.

For me, there is no past of gaming. There is only the eternal present.

I probably won't care about the Saturn though...

3 years... hmmm... no, I would say a bit longer. Four, maybe even five.

We'd most certainly HEAR about the next consoles to come by 3 or 4, but we won't get them for a while.

I have to agree with meka dragon.

Just because they'll be bettered and replaced, it doesn't mean that they would have failed though, does it?

They're built with a limited time-span in mind.
