Does anyone remember this green haired superhero who saved the world from the evil treecutters and polluters?

My views on Captain Planet was that he was the worst 'super hero' ever.

He had a stupid blue face, and looked a little like Rick Astley.

Get away from me planet boy, you suck.

Captain Planet was a bit of a wimpy super hero, i prefered the Plastic Man cartoons and The Tick.

Earth,Wind,Fire,Water..Heart.

It was a guy that did 'Heart'. He was a south American and he had a pet monkey. The 'Earth' guy was black-African (Kwame), the 'Water' was a wierd teenage girl with a wierd accent (Gi), the 'Fire' guy was a 'street'-style New Yorker (Wheeler) and the 'Wind' person was a Russian woman (Linka). They all worked for Gaia, who lived on an idyllic island somewhere in the Pacific.

Their enemies included Duke Nukem (hmm.) - some radioactive guy, Looten Plunder (do you see what they've done there?) and Hoggish Greedly.

Since the program aired, the Captain Planet Foundation has been set up - it's kind of like Greenpeace, but with more merchandise. Check it out at http://www.captainplanetfdn.org/

Incidentally, the program always started with the same speech. I can still remember it now.

*sighs while reminiscing...*

Our world is in peril. Gaia, the Spirit of the Earth, can no longer stand the terrible destruction plagueing our planet. Wtf? Heart? What kind of poncy element is that? I don't remember Heart. What did she (I presume it was a she) do, aim her ring and yell HEART! and all the nasty South American poachers decide that they loved each other and wanted each others babies, while the true element guys stand around looking miffed and blow up some caves with their super powers?

This is bloody weird!

I was singing the Captain planent song while on the toilet this morning! Just started thinking about after someone in goatboys rant in fog chat said somthin about Bottled water being bad for the environment becasue of the plastic it is stored in...then the pollution thing kicked in and all i could think about was captain planet....he's a hero gonna take pollution down to zero..he's our powers magnified...and he's fighting for the planets side...

was there a Zeda one too? I remember kids at school having lunch boxes of the cartoon Mario and Luigi playing a Zelda snes game that looked like a cartoon.
