The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
For one, they are the future of this site. Yes, they may make spelling mistakes and ask stupid questions, but most of us did when we first joined this humdrum, it is all part of a learning process. Most Regulars now seem to think that newbies should acquire all knowledge of GameADay upon registering, which is far off. Yes, the information is all there, ready for anybody interested enough to read them, but think - If you've just been offered the chance to get free games, what are you going to do? Scour the site for ages to try and find out about it or jump straight in hoping to get some of the jackpot?
Secondly, on the Text Talk Subject, all you have to do is look at Sniper for an example of where that language is acceptable. Yes, Snipe may be a notable and all, but he could just well have been a newbie who'd just joined the site and had been put off by the members being too stuck up to attempt to read a shorthand reply. Just think, if we hadn't have been so ignorant, we could have had lots more people around these forums, and a lot more interesting posts. Yes, Text talk may be quite annoying, but if you ignore that scruffy exterior and look at what they are trying to say, then you could just find a gem of a member.
Try and give Newbies help. Instead of just brushing off a new member as 'trash' and leaving it as that, you could try and give them some hints and tips as they take their first tentative steps towards Regularism. Advise them to put effort into their posts, and to not just give snappy one word replys, and they could become your own little protege, as well as gaining you a friend
You see the amount of newbies we've had on the site these past weeks? That is all because of this new competition from SR that is promoting Game A Day. We should have this amount of new members EVERY WEEK! People should be falling over themselves just to join SR, never mind attempt to win a GAD, because the idea of Game A Day is such a fantastic one, and we need to get the word about.
You may think that, if more members join then your chances of winning GAD will fall. I'm not going to lie to you and say this isn't true - of course, if more people enter you chances will drop, but think of all the fun that you'll be getting from these new posts. Yes, it may not compare to a free game, but Meka will probably have beat you to it anyway.
So come on, help N00bs, give something back to the SR community, and hopefully they'll get their friends in, so we have a bigger and better site for everybody.

Yes, mostly GAD 3's thought - on GAD 1 we are drawing, and, as well all know, that is the one that counts! (Hates losing)

No Offence.
N00bs deserve a little help instead of insults, but learning the hard way is always more effecting.
