Imminently, I will be receiving an Xbox console bundle and I have been thinking frequently about whether I should buy the controller s upon receival of the bundle or buy a link that will enable me to play with playstation 2 dual shock controllers whilst using the the big black box!

Because the official Xbox controller is relatively huge and awkward compared with the controllers of the PS2 and the Gamecube. Moreover, I heard, the controller s was ergonomically, sufficiently better designed than the original. However, I still am very baffled by the dilemma..can u help me find a solution? Do I play with the original Xbox controller, purchase a controller s or thridly do I buy the specific link?

Yea I reckon when someone goes to buy an xbox the store should ask which pad they want with their package.

i have no problems of any kind with the standard controller. it's stylish, all the buttons and triggers are set out nicely etc etc. people who have a little winge about the size of it are the people that have small hands. everyone knows that the Xbox is aimed mostly at mature gamers...mature gamers have suitable hands for the controller

I find the standard pad excellent for Mech Assault and unreal and splinter cell and well every game as I find the standard pad excellent. I have used a controller s and yes very comfertable and the only reason I would buy one is to make my controller count up to 4.

Personally I like the standard X-Box controller. :-) I have the Controller S too and as you mentioned - its nice to have both controllers to switch between different games.
As for the PS2 controller, the one fault I find with it is that the analogue sticks are too close together, which makes playing games such as FPS types pretty uncomfatable.
The X-Box controllers excel for those games as the analogues are very nicely positioned.

Out of all the controllers on all 3 consoles, I really do prefer the standard X-Box controller - even over the Controller S. If theres anything I would maybe change a little though about it, its the D-pad. Its a nice size, but its so webbed together that it can be a pain in the backside for pulling off special moves in say a beat em up game.

The standard controller is big, but I think some people blow it all way out of proportion - either that or they're very weak pansies. I certainly don't notice any real weight to it or anything when I'm playing my games. ;-)

I think you should try out the standard controller and then look to purchasing the Controller S later if you're having problems. I don't think you should look into a converter though mate.

ok thanks very much. Yes I think that will be a good idea and as and when I wish to buy a second controller, perhaps I will choose controller s so that I have the best of both worlds in that each may be more appropriate than the other for various software on the box.

You definitely don't want the convertor to let you use PS2 pads - for starters the feedback is nowhere near as strong as that on the Xbox pads.

I've had no problems with the standard controller, and unless MS bring out some new coloured ones I'm not bothered about the controller s. now if they brought out a white one like the Panzer Dragoon one...:)

I think you should wait until you get the Xbox and have played it a week or two, then if you find it uncomfartable shell out for an s.

Well, in my opinion it couldn't be any worse than the 'standard' one. But that's just my opinion.

In some respect the PS2 Dual Shock controller is rather uncomfortable and positively I can say that the Gamecube has very nice and comfortable controllers. Phillip, do you prefer the controller s when compared with the original Xbox controller?

I haven't used a Controller S yet, so I can't really comment on that - but yes, the DualShock 2 is currently my favourite controller.
