Thats' kind of what I tried to say earlier, but nobody listens to me ...
* funkygamer shambles off, muttering forlornly under his breath *
On a related note, more pimpage!!
ph33r teh tagline!
Although my monitor is currently rocking about 640x400 pixels (or whatever the very low one is) and only 16 colors, due to some graphics card issues, i'll try to suggest a few things i think could improve the site a little further.
I'm not in a relevant business, and didn't know what to expect from the site, and thus didn't have the pre-existing knowledge your users probably would have of your services.
Taking this into account, it was the end of the homepage before i had any real idea of what you were about. Maybe integrate a little of the 'what we do' page content around the top of the homepage?
Also, maybe the first three items on the nav bit should have been the home, what we do and who we are (maybe not that exact order). They seem most important for new visitors to me. Although maybe my small screen size restricted the view of it, and but for that it wouldn't have been an issue. Maybe.
Still on the stuff that may have been down to my small screen size:
If the nav list was a bit narrower, the main text could have been wider, and thus taken up less lines. I always find that the longer the page (which i judge by the height of the rectangle in the vertical scroll bar), the more offputting the prospect of going through the whole page is. (obviously stuff like text size and spacing also effercts this). If it creates the impression of having to read through a lot of text, i expect it to be a bit of a strugle.
Also on pages other than the homepage, if the box with the charities 'ad' in wasn't there (or was smaller), the text content would appear much more central to the page.
Finally, a couple of things i would have phrased a bit differently:
that charity services bit again: i think 'collection box not rattling as much as it should?' might sound a bit better 'collection box not rattling as *loudly* as it should'
'much', to me, suggests the effort they've been putting in until now, 'loudly' seems more to refer to the results of their work, and also, i think, just sounds a bit better.
In the homepage first para, the last sentance before the bullets would be a bit punchier as 'How you resolve your daily challenges will determine:...' - or maybe 'How you resolve the daily challenges you face will determine:...'
Hope some of that is helpful, DD
Its 760 wide, so it should fit easily.
Anyone else on 800x600 having this problem?
Happy?
I'll have a look at it..
Could you move that paragraph further down the page and put in something more like the first paragraph on the "what we do" page, and have a list of your services as a bullet point list, that way, people can see everything you do pretty quickly.
