I saw an advert in Empire today for Romeo and Juilet Spec Ed. Hmm, I'd never seen it. So I went and got my sisters copy and settled down to watch it.

's pretty good. Surprised me. Leonardo di Camprio is also quite good.

Quite surprised actually. I enjoyed it a lot.

Anyone else got any views on this? I'm just sort of intrigued, really.

Sorry, but I really hate this film. I bought it a few years ago on video, having heard that it was an interesting interpretation, and it immediately became one of my least liked films. A good idea in theory, but in practice, using Shakespearian language in that setting was a mistake. I'm no Shakespeare purist, I just thought the film sucked the big one.

Saw in on Special Edition DVD in Smiths today.

I'm seriously considering buying a DVD with DiCamprio in. God help me.

I thought it was alright, the petrol station sequence was good.

Personally I didn't like it.

I didn't think the modernisation worked well at all, with things that didn't seem to make sense if they supposedly happened in modern day.

Actually, I fell asleep before the end.

Romeo and Juliet is probably my favourite film of all time (well, top 3 at least). After watching the first 5 minutes I was prepared to hate it but it turned out to be a triumph of style as well as substance.

Hey did you know that Baz Lhurman based his version of Romeo and Juliet on films from bollywood?

that's what we've just been doing in general studies.

Didn't really like it, to be honest. Some hideous overacting at some points, especially at the start.

It is a clever interpretation of the play though.

Titanic wasnt that bad, BTW. It just had too many people hailing it as 'best film ever'. And Di Caprio, of course.

mrhappy - what did you think of Goodfellas? Aside from Raging Bull (which rocked), it's the only Scorsese i've seen, and I didn't think it was amazingly good. Competent, not great.

No it's not out yet.. One of the films that will rock in 2002.

I've heard that di Caprio is good in it. But this is from people who have posted stuff on the internet claiming to have seen it at private screenings. So they could just be making it up.

I can't remember seeing Titanic at the movies...sssh...I never saw it! You can't prove it!

And DiCamprio is good in this film. I'm shocked. Seen it, happy?
