Am I missing something here? These are to go into your private collection? You have 60 or 70 titles there yet you have no money? I think disappointment is just around the corner.

It was her first film and it is exceptionally well-acted.

Shaneo If you like good films try a few of these:

Off your list:
Battle Royale
Mallrats
Memento
Shawshank

A few others:
Audition - incredibly disturbing/freaky Japanese film

Amores Perros - exceptional Mexican film with the most realistic dogfighting scenes (the only dog fighting scenes) I have ever seen.

Being John Malkovich - Wacky film about shifting into the head of John Malkovich. Inspired.

Requiem for a Dream - brilliant, compelling film about addiction and the toll it takes. Best film of 2000 by a considerable stretch.

Big Lebowski - inverted film noir by the Coen brothers. inverted in the sense that it takes the Dude, a stoner waster, and has him accidently move through a convoluted film noir-style plot. Normally you have someone like Marlowe from the Raymond Chandler novels, who solves the mystery and brings about the developments himself. The Dude does the whole thing by accident. And it's brilliant.

Evil Dead - seminal zombie film by Sam Raimi. About to be re-released in a latex case. It rocks.

French Connection - Both films have just been re-released in a not wholy over-priced box set. They rule. And they have a real car chase filmed guerrila style. And Gene Hackman looks like my history teacher.

Girlfight - female boxing film about a girl who enters a gender-blind boxing comp and ends up fighting in the final against her boyfriend. It's very good and will prove to any girlfriend that you are in touch with your feminist side (albeit a feminist side that would follow a right hook with a left jab and then go for the KO with an uppercut!)

Leon - extremely stylish hitman film. It's one of the best action films of recent years and it hasn't really been counted as one.

Sexy Beast - has ben kingsley in it. Swearing. A lot. Has Ray Winstone in it. Wearing skimpy trunks and escaping death at the hands of a stray boulder. Has a giant rabbit. With Uzis. Shot through a blue filter. This film rocks.

The Third Man - It is one of *the* best films of all time. It may be in black and white but it's better made, better shot, all in all better than 90% of what has followed it. If you play your cards right you could get your dad to buy this one. Chances are that he knows and loves it.

Raging Bull - Definitive boxing film. De Niro is legendary in it, putting on a huge amount of weight mid-filming to portray the descent of Jack De laMotta successfully. It's incredible. And I've said that about most of the films here. So I'll add that it is in the top five of these films here.

Withnail & I - Every line is quotable. You perfumed ponce. If demand the finest films known to humanity, and you want them here and you want them now, then buy Withnail. That oughta liven a few of you stiffs up a bit.. sorry got carried away in the quotability there.

That's all for now. Check out on-line reviews of any you find interesting for a bit more depth.
