It was quite a dodgy afternoon at SR Towers. Some twazock at spong.com managed to email over a thousand industry people, I believe it was the fist quarter of his email contacts list that he must have bought somewhere He managed to share all of their email details with everyone else. So im sitting there with email address for head honchos at Xbox, Capcom, Midway etc etc. Then everyone started doing Reply all and swearing and cursing at this Spong.com person.
Seeing the anger i replied all and told everyone that they should hold hands across the world, pray for peace and hand out cheeseburgers to the homeless...
Has anyone ever done a reply all to over a thousand people they don't know? Not a good idea. Out of a thousand people, about 10% of the people didn't work at the companies anymore and their emails bounced back (you do the math!), about 15% were out of the office until such and such a date and they would reply to my email when they got back (bloody auto-responders) and about another 5% didn't see the funny side and got even more irate.
I spent a good proportion of my afternoon emptying my inbox, and i bet it didn't stop when i left either, i can't wait to see my inbox tomorrow!
