The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
The idea is this:
ALL visitors to the site who don't have an SR cookie get a popup. The popup basically says:
"YOU have been selected to win a FREE GAME OF YOUR CHOICE! Simply post in our 'The Future of Gaming (Chat)' forum your thoughts on the future of gaming (minimum 200 words). The best post will be selected by our judges at the end of each day/week/month to receive a FREE GAME! (up to the value of £50!!). To register to become a member of our forums to allow you to post your entry, click HERE!"
This way, we get more JATS posting more thoughts, (maybe we'll get an original console wars topic for once), more potential customers etc. The thinking behind this is that not everyone who visits the site notices the Gameaday banners or links, and this way you get to target more and more people who are interested in games. (And therefore more and more likely to buy them too).
A similar promotion could be done for DVDs/PC parts/Gadgets etc., or they could all be rolled into one.
Existing members or people who have visited the site before wouldn't get the popup because it only targets new visitors, so it wouldn't be so intrusive. Or maybe it could be targetted just to people who've never registered.
This fantastic idea which has probably been thought of before by 1000 other people was brought to you by FM.
