I am trying to display a java image on my geocities website using the HTML editor.

I inserted the code into the head section.
I clicked preveiw but it did not display the image, only a grey background where the image should be.

Can somebody help me please?

Apologies, didn't mean it like that. Just a bit of light-hearted banter.

But java applets aren't the place to start if you're a beginner trying to jazz-up your website. Thats all.

Now, javascript. Thats a different matter. They are two distinctly different technologies, which a lot of people forget. Learning Javascript can be easy enough. Or like you say, flash also.

Best stick to the Etch-a-sketch then, and leave the java alone. Java classes and applets involve more than cutting and pasting to get them working. 'Specially on websites.

I could go on, but I'd only bore you if you're not a techie...

Have you uploaded the jar and class files to your webspace? What about your classpath, have you checked that? If your classpath isn't correct, then the applet tries to use the users local classpath (which obviously won't work either).
