If, when I go move back home in a few months and use my parents telly, it goes green screen, then I'll just buy DVD Region X.
At the moment it works fine, so I'm not too bothered.
For example, my WEGA has two SCART inputs, but only AV1 supports RGB input. Only high-end TV's have all SCART sockets fully functional.
Also, I had a quick test with one of my DVD's, and ot played fine, no scrambling, no green screen or anything. That is only one DVD though, but I would have thought any anti-piract type stuff would have affected all DVD's.
It looks good so far!
Recording DVD's from a PC DVD player onto a tape eliminates Macrovision and the need for a descrambler, but it leaves a horrible black margin around.
Down with Marcovision!!!

I don't *think* it will defeat MacroVision - but then I don't think PS2 has MacroVision anyway. MacroVision is an anti-piracy software system built in to most DVD players (and also on pre-recorded VHS tapes) - if PS2 supported it, Sony wouldn't have needed to disable RGB playback of DVD-Video.
YH - if if is indeed MacroVision protection that ash_davie2k is experiencing, then you may well have the same problem. Your DC will not have the same problem, even with an RGB cable, simply because it does not play DVD's and therefore has no MacroVision protection system.
Appriciated, but I know that the telly can handle true RGB SCART, as my DC does it.
What I want to know is, will DVD Region X overcome the Macrovision? Or does it just eradicate the Green Screen thing?
Advice: Get a Medion DVD player from Special Reserve for less than £149.99. I have one, and they rule! :0)
*Cough*plug*cough* :0)

I dont think its due to the Macro thing. As people who pirate videos from copying them to DVD would use RGB. RGB has been disabled, to stop copying. So I doubt it is this. Are you actually using a PS2 connected to a TV. Or is there a VCR connected up aswell. Try it with a TV and PS2 connected, dont even have the TV aerial in.
