I played one in Tesco's, but it only had Amped running, and I wasn't overly impressed.

The best way to decide whether you want one or not is to play it for yourself and see what you think. I was dubious about them before I even played it because of everything I read and it's best not to listen to what everyone else says, pop in to your local SR store and have a go on one of the pods! I wasn't too keen on the control pad to be honest with you but the graphics were quite nice and Halo seems very cool indeed.
There is a great Halo video on UKclips.com which is worth checking out, it shows the physics of the game in great detail, they have certainly put a lot of thought in to it!

I've said 'no' all along, but I *am* tempted to get one, with Halo.
