Apparently, rather than forcing them to play on a Sunday evening, as the BBC would have been well within their rights to do so, this FA Cup quarter final will be played at 5:35 on the Saturday.
It's only kicking off two and a half hours later than it would without TV coverage, so I hardly think it's going to effect the team for their game on the Wednesday, is it?
To be honest, he's got better things to moan about than this, like the bans his players will doubtlessly recieve for upcoming important matches.
Anyway, what chance another Arsenal Spurs semi-final?
> Basically he's looking for an excuse just in case Arsenal lose on Wednesday.
Which is not likely as we are playing on the Tuesday !!.
Wenger wanted his players to train on the Sunday and Monday before the big CL game with Deportivo on the Tuesday. His point is that the team will not arrive back in London until very late on the Saturday night and it will probably restrict preparations for the Deportivo game to just one training session on the Monday. A mid-day kick-off or even 3pm kick-off would have made a difference.
A home win against Bayer on Weds and Deportivo on the Tues after the Newcastle game is CRUCIAL if Arsenal are to progress to the quarter finals. They can not afford to go into the last game needed any points - as it is away to Juventus.
If the FA want English clubs to do well in Europe they need to be more flexible with kick-off times. It seems they will allow kick-off times to be chopped and changed to suit Sky etc but will not change kick off times to assist our clubs in European competition. Wenger has a point - don't you think ?
