WARNING!!! If you put liquid custard into a kettle it WILL catch fire because., as someone pointed out, custard does have a lower boiling point than water.
But even more dangerously...DON'T PUT CUSTARD POWDER IN YOUR KETTLE!!! It is well documented that custard powder is in fact an explosive and will blow your house to bits if you heat it up in a kettle. and i'm really not kidding here, so don't do it. and especially don't do it just to find out if i'm winding you up...i'm not.

I thought about that. A kettle that you boil on the stove is essentially a saucepan - so it should be alright. But an electric ketttle, made of resistors and stuff would probably be different. Mine is electric.
