This question is on a lot of peoples minds, which game do you think will win the crown of best video game to this date?

GTA3 was a gaming masterpiece that gave us out and out fun and full on gaming excitement, most people who own a ps2 will have a copy of this game in their collection and most of you will play this game on a day to day basis enjoying the thrills and spills of life as a gangster in the infamous Liberty City.

The graphics and GTA3 were spectacular and Rockstar and DMA delivered something that no other gaming company has given us before! Night changes to day as we battle are way through a gangsters life and the real time weather effects took our gaming tastes to another level.

The radio stations in GTA3 were done to perfection whether it be Chatterbox where mad people ring in to discuss crazy topics, or Rise fm the trance station the delivers banging tunes with a club feel.

Some people protested that we will never get bored of GTA3 and i think i am with them on this one, the game contains endless entertainment and over the top gangster fun. The game is definatley not for children as the content looked and played like something out of a x-rated movie.

Overall GTA3 delivered brand spanking new experience that gamers world wide (except austraillia LOL) loved and enjoyed and still do to this day!

Metal Gear Solid 2 is yet to be released here in the United Kingdom but it is getting a lot of people talking about what a new gaming experience it will bring to our ps2'.

Gamers take control of Solid Snake an ex-SAS officer that is going under cover to reveal the truth behind the prestiduce and contraversial Metal Gear! The game deilvers just like the first Metal Gear did on the psone in 1999 and is sure to be a huge hit.

The graphicvs in Metal Gear Solid 2 have taken gaming one step further into the gaming future and they will have the same effect that GTA3 had on us when it was released in the October of 2001. The weather effects are superb and the background textures are as smooth as a 'babies bottom'. The character design has been taken to another level and the A.I of your enemies has never hit such a groundbreaking stage, enemies can now spot your shadow or hear you move as you run for cover in the nearest locker.

The music in Metal Gear Solid 2 is the most compelling yet in any game and is done to near perfection. The sound effetcs are also done to a high effect, you can hear your enemies radioing for help and backup and you can also hear them talking between themselves.

Overall Metal Gear Solid 2 (as we have seen in the demo) has taken gaming one more step into gaming bliss and when the game hits on a full release on March 8th gamers nationwide will be rushing to grab hold of this superb title.

Both GTA3 and Metal Gear Solid 2 have changed the way that we game, but which of these titles will take the crown on the most ultimate game ever created, am i missing a game to add to this list of 2 games? Is there a better game than these 2? If so i would love to know which one because i certaintly want it in my collection. Let me hear your views on the greatest game of all time and which game will rule th gaming universe for many years to come. Thanks for reading!

A fair and sound argument Mr. Wookiee! You've left no holes for me to pick at. Aside from the fact that I agree with you entirely, there is the fact that I like picking holes in peoples arguments- regardless of my own view point, however your point is well proven with no holes top speak of. Were it a bucket, it would not even drip.

Congratulations, my "nit-picking" side is utterly defeated.

Not strictly true... I've avoided plot spoilers, but that only affects the storyline. I've had two demos, both of which have proven (to me at least) that the gameplay is excellent.

Even then, the gameplay itself - while improved in many areas - isn't significantly different to MGS1, which was well ahead of its time - so MGS2 was always going to be extremely playable.

Yeah, but one or two reviews out of how many? I'd pay no more attention to that than the 10/10 review for Halo from Edge. I won't deny that Halo is a good game, but it *is* just another FPS. I think Edge are a bit like Graham Poll (the football ref) in that they've built up a false aura around themselves.

Where Poll has deliberately sent off players in order to get a hard-man image, Edge consistently mark games down, so that when they do give a 10/10, everyone thinks "Ooh, must be good - Edge gave it 10/10".

While not wanting to be a sheep and follow the crowd (never has been my way), I'd tend to go with the majority, rather than the minority. I know exactly what I like in a game; therefore I temper the reviews with what appeals to me. Therefore if a game interests me, I'll check several reviews, and if they generally say it's a good game, I'll buy it, or at least try and get a demo of it.

It works for me, as I've never bought a PS2 game yet that I didn't thoroughly enjoy!

Circles, circles I tells ya!

Again with the presenting of your own problems. You say you're going to enjoy it, but also that you've avoided the spoilers so you know even less than the unsure public.

What if one of said spoilers was that after the taking pictures of Metal Gear Ray, the game turned into a cross between "Sim watching paint dry" and "Arkanoid without a paddle"?

In the same way that people shouldn't be able to slate the game based on the demo and THAT review that gave it 77%, I'm equally sick of this "it has to be good, so I'll tell myself and everyone else that it is.... and maybe the potential disappointment will go away" attititude.

Actually I'm sick of "alik" and that attitude.

At least what Wookiee says makes some sense.

I've played the demo, read and seen enough to know that it's more of an experience than a game. I've tried to avoid the spoilers, but I know that it is a game I'm going to enjoy very, very much.

Heh, its probably been said before but ill say it just one more time, who really cares how the two games compare to be honest. They are/will be two very good games that will be a joy to play and myself soon owning them both dont really care which is the better.

End of discussion?

How can you say MGS2 is "one of the best gaming experiences of all time" when y'ain't even played it?

Hmm.... actually, don't answer that, this topics gone round in enough circles - besides which you're probably right anyway.

While they're both excellent games, I really don't see how you can compare MGS2 to GTA3 - they're completely different games!

How much sneaking around did you do in GTA3? How much driving do you do in MGS2? Apart from the first and third-person viewpoints, they aren't alike at all.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who misses out on either of these games is missing one of the best gaming experiences of all time.

To be honest, I prefer the MGS2 demo (yup, just the demo) to GTA3. The level of hidden detail in both is quite amazing, but I find that this detail is less subtle in GTA3. Its always "big" hidden things, rather than tiny details like brushing the plants as you walk past. Whilst big distractions are nice, I much prefer the little things in MGS2. I was quite happy to spend 5 minutes simply shooting the glasses in the bar area to distract the guard, or hours hiding in lockers making fun of the guards. Thats the kind of detail I like.
