I started to read it and found out the magazine was months out of date. Chris Jericho was the WCW champion after just beating the Rock at No Mercy! Reading further on I found out that the April Magazine was due out on the 15th January. It's just stupid. In the magazine they were talking about the results for October when the Alliance were still going strong.
However the articles were reasonably good which brings me onto the second part. One was about the Rock commenting on how he always uses the samoan drop, DDT, Rock Bottom and Peoples Elbow. The talked about how his matches and many other wrestlers are all the same. For some unknown reason no where in the entire article did they mention his Spinebuster or Belly to Belly Suplex and only briefly mentioned his Sharpshooter. There are a few more moves he uses which I can't remember.
Also in the same magazine was an article from 1997. It was about Rocky Maiava where they were talking about his future in the WWF. They even complimented him on his technical ability and his athleticism.
Has there been that much change in 4 years? I don't know because I have only watched WWF since just before King of the Ring 2000.
Also do you find the Rock's matches to be the same all the time? A lot of you have criticised the Rock's technical ability. He certainly puts effort into his wrestling but does he still deserve to be at the top of the WWF or has he become stale. I think he still has a lot to offer to the WWF and his matches can be very enjoyable. He also sells his opponents moves very well, making himself look more impressive at the same time by withstanding the punishment.
In the magazine they thought he needed to use submission moves more. He seems to be using the Sharpshooter a bit more than before but that's all. He doesn't use moves of the turnbuckle so his matches are a bit one-dimensional, but would that make him any more effective.
What are your thoughts?
> If Rock didn't put so much enthusiasm into his wrestling, his matches would be
> boring.

It shows he can put enthusiasm into his matches. Unlike some people.
And I totally agree with IB's big post. The Rock does rule!
Or, rock could quit wrestling and become an actor!
I've watched him in his early days as part of the Nation. A great athelete and one hell of an entertainer. He had some superb matches with the likes of shamrock.
Then things moved on, The nation split and the Rock rapidly became a huge face with his ability to entertain and ability to envolve the fans in his work.
Survivor series 1998- the event that changed Rock's wrestling career. A tournament to crown the vacant WWF championship. The rock went through each match as a heel untill the finale. Rock vs Mankind. Rock applied the sharpshooter to mankind, and vince called for the bell- New WWF champion- The rock.
The rock was now the champion, a heel and in one of the biggest stable- the coperation.
A huge fued started as Mankind took on the Rock in some memorable matches- I quit and last man standing to name a few. This is were the Rock really became the most electrifying man in sports entertainment. He was great, and although he was a heel, you just had to love his abilities.
As with the nation, The rock left the co-op to once again be what he is today, a HUGE face!
The rock is great because he has what many other superstars do not have- the ability to involve the crowd, the ability to entertian, the ability to make everyone laugh... he is simply electrifying.
And nowadays when he has to take on jerks like Jericho and Taker, you call him boring? Well he is only one man, he cant wrestle a match on his own, he needs a top athlete in the ring to work with. He can try make other jerks look better than they are- another top ability, but put the Rock against Stone Cold, HHH or mankind you will really see why the Rock is the greatest.
Any one want to disagree with me now?
The Rock ISN'T a great wrestler.
He does however have more charisma that most of the rest of the roster put together.
> But what makes his matches boring but at the same time electrifying? I don't
> want to sound like Mystique, but I want reasonsssssssssssss.
His abiltiy to pump up the crowd, have you seen how people react to him and how they really get involved in his matches? Exactly. Plus he plays his character out well, theres really a million and one reasons but I di however think that the Rock should become more of an a** kicking Rock like he used to be a few years back. He's been playing it a bit too safe lately.
I suppose going to the WWF live would make you see things differently and you would realise why people constantly chant Rocky throughout his mathes.
Rocky, Rocky, Rocky
