If you had the choice between the official GameCube pad (colour doesn't matter) and the WaveBird wireless controller (again, colour doesn't matter), which would you choose and why???

Many of you will probably say the wireless as the wires cannot get tangled and so that more people can sit around you for a four player game, without pulling the leads out or pulling the console.
But surely you'd get a similar effect if you just brought a pair of cable-extenders?? That's what i'm gunna do, i'm not too sure about wireless pads??

So I won't go for the wireless pads, i'm sticking with the official ones. Maybe i'll import some to save money?? When I have money of course!

What would you choose between and why??

Let's face facts.......

Nintendo means quality, If nintendo think they have the wireless solution sorted out, they will release it!

About battery power, I don't think that the batterys will run out all the time. I bought a rumble pack with lylat wars when it cam out. The batterys are still goin! If nintendo have the same sort of system, I think they will go a long way. I know that all the rumble pack did was rumble..but still.

Release date, Nintendo stated that the Wavebird will be released in June. Now I don't know whether that will be a release in europe, japan or US but it is coming. I suppose you could import it in june for your uk cube!

The wavebird does use an RF system (radio waves), and I think that it will be very effective and work well. I have tried infra red controllers that are absolutely rubish cos they have to be direct. RF signals can be received quite strongly when it's not facing the receiver.

So only time will tell,

hope this helps

i think that was because the first ones used infa red , so you had to keep the control pointed at the reciever. these are radio so they should be ok , but if there arent four different signals for the radio recievers to be set on then you could only use one per console as they would interfier with eachother ! and that could be bad , but i bet nintendo has already got that sorted.

It depends on how good the wireless controller is, as wireless controllers tend to be a bit tempermental.

The official wired ones will be about £25, so I think the wireless ones could be as much as £35 at the most, probably £30.

They do look like a different idea, but i have a funny feeling they could be as much as £30 for one, which is very expensive for a pad, even the official pads are expsensive, but i will buy them like i always do hehe

Good point Ortega, this is the first time that Nintendo have created a wireless pad. I don't know what the Sega wireless pads were like, but I think they were un-official and used infra-red beams.

Yes, the WaveBird uses some kind of signals which apparently works better than infra-red.

But just cuz it is a Nintendo pad doesn't mean it'll be brilliant. One downside is that it uses batteries, and you'll also have to fork out on those aswell quite regularly, probably AAA ones.

I'll stil stick with the wired ones and a pair of extension leads.

Ye, But all them were infra red right? Dont these Wavebird ones use radio singnals? I aint really too sure, I aint too bothered. I'll just stick to the official normal pad.

But isnt this the first time an OFFICIAL Wireless controller has been built?
