"WipEout Fusion: Too easy?"

I received WF through the post this morning, and had a quick play on my lunch break.

I went straight in for a "Challenge", in which I came thrid and got a bronze, and a new weapon straight away.

After that I decided to try a league. I won all three races, and the whole league on my first attempt.

I'm not trying to show off or anything here, but I really hope it gets harder otherwise I think I'll finish it this weekend...

Anyone?

I'll still be inferior to most people. I don't think I'm too good at Wipeout. :-D

But these online leagues do bring back memories of Shenmue. Now that was impressive. In the 70 man battle time trial, my highest rank at any time was 12th in the UK. That was out of at least 8000 people. Not bad eh? In Europe, out of 17000 people, I came about 80th and in the world, out of 37000 people, I was ranked 237th.

Goddamm that game was good.

He is right that you go to the website and submit your scores... in order to find out that you really are an inferior gamer compared to some American nut! Best to get in there before its out in America :-)

It's like a worldwide league I think.

Oh it certainly gets harder. I think I've completed 40% now and it has started to get a lot harder.

I have completed Arcade mode 100% but that was easy and I think I have unlocked all the standard weapons. I've done challenge mode with only 3 crafts though and I only have 5 or 6 crafts available. League is getting pretty damn hard now too.

And I finally worked out how to progress in Zone mode. I looked in the manual :-D. I'm on Zone 2 but I've only had one attempt.

By the way, what is the zone code for once you have died in zone mode. Can you enter it on a web site or something?

I struggle on Alca Venus, but I won Florion Heights 2nd time round.

It is, as you say, very easy to begin with. A major criticism of the earlier wipeout games was that they became too hard too quickly, so for Fusion, they`ve tried to make things more "beginner-friendly". Fortunately, the pace picks up significantly at about the 30% complete mark, and then continues to get faster and faster from then on.
