"Hollywood couple Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon are to make a film about the 11 September attacks in New York, focusing on the bravery of a British security officer.
Robbins and Sarandon are to base their film on the bravery of Rick Rescorla, a Cornwall-born war hero, who died in the attacks saving thousands of people.
The film is based on an article by James Stewart in the New Yorker magazine, All The Heroes Are Dead, and is one of three productions about the attacks on the Twin Towers currently in planning
The film will concentrate on the love story between the couple, described as "two fractured people who found each other late in life and enjoyed a storybook romance".
The World Trade Center disaster will provide a cruel finale to the film."

A love story using the WTC as a backdrop.
They didnt even wait a year.

They're not, they're making a love story to give the story some more volume (yes, I know that's crazy) so they don't get totally slated for the film being "hollow"
Man, that's just stupid!
Adding the love story and making it the main point is what will get them slated
Fair enough if the love story is used to create emotion, as it's a lot easier to do that if we can relate to the characters, instead of just having clip after clip after clip of random people dying
But if the love story IS the main point, and the WTC attack is just a backdrop, they should be given a slap on the wrist
It is a sad thing to happen and I find it hard to believe they could base an actual film around it. Documentaries, fine. Film, no way. Not only was it the news of the decade, not only was it the most tragic thing to happen in my life, but, it only happened a matter of months ago.

This is the aspect I object to.
If the film was to be a documentary feature detailing the actual facts of the event, I would find it much more acceptable. Though I still think it is too soon - maybe an absolute minimum of five years after the event.
I still remember sitting at home watching the news and bursting into tears at the film of people throwing themselves from the buildings. How do the minds work to make a love story out of something like that?
"How do you KNOW that? How do you KNOW that the film is going to do that?"
We don't KNOW, but it's a really good guess. Is a game released to tie in with a film, you think, going to be any good? It's the same thing, they're just throwing merchendise off a tradegy, and they'll call it a love story to get all the mong people with no idea what life's about so they can make a bundle of cash before we even forget about what's going on.
But hey, it's not as if there's anything better to make a movie about. Not such as the fighter squadron of black men, who were refused to serve in World War 2, who then eventually became the best squadron in the war, and even painted their planes a different colour because they were so proud.
Hell, throw a love story in, and I'll start work on the t-shirts.
Well I certainly won't be going to see it.
Sounding cynical but I'm not surprised... it's like Pandora's Box for the money hungry swines.
This is Hollywood making money out of pain and loss and suffering."

How do you KNOW that? How do you KNOW that the film is going to do that? It could be handled well and actually be a good, thought provoking film
Then again, of course, you could be right and it will be terrible, but at least reserve judgement until you know more about it
But this is just a lazy attempt to make people feel "emotional" at a film. And what's more, it's only just funning happened.
I'm with Goatboy here, this is disgusting.
5 months ago your brother/mother/uncle was killed in a terrorist attack.
Now they're making a film about it.
Events that affected you directly are now being turned into a glossy hollywood movie.
Except you know that the bit where your relative was obliterated so badly they could only find some bits of that person isn't going to shown.
Instead, it's a couple of beautiful people pretending they know what that feels like.
They won't show the pain and loss and phone calls at 2am from the person left behind to cope on their own.
They won't show the aching loss that person feels and the contemplation of suicide because the reason you feel special is dead, torn to pieces.
Instead, this is being turned into a love story.
I'm out of here.
