Some of you may already have read this, but it's on the SR news pages.

"The next case is Nintendo vs Sony, your honour.
A recent rumour (can't stress rumour enough - please don't sue us) circulating the gaming world concerns Nintendo's plans to sue Sony over the name 'PlayStation'. The story dates back to the heady days of 1995, when it was reported that the two companies were going to collaborate to produce a CD-based add-on unit for the Super NES. The Nintendo PlayStation.

As the current console situation tells us, the deal, and relations, went sour, leaving Sony to bring us the little grey box that led to the bigger black one. Sources say that Nintendo execs plan on filing the suit early this week.

Obviously, if it was proven in court that Sony did pilfer the brand name from the Mario boys it could have dire consequences. They could be forced to change the name of their console and might have to give up some of the profits made while trading with the name.

If you're wondering quite why Nintendo have waited so long to do something about it, you're probably more intelligent than you look. The brand has been such a success that surely Nintendo would have done something before now. The end of a great gaming legacy, or the internet rumour mill (which we suppose we're now part of) gone mad? More news if we get it."

SEVEN!! Se7en! SSSEEEEVVIiNNNNN!

:-D

Hmm.. though, I have already commented on this lawsuit issue. I reckon it will come out the best for us all. Its true that Nintendo actually own the Playstation name, but I think they will settle for some Sony games and other things. Maybe a huge cigar and some ferrets.

So you saying that it is a confirmed rumour?

I hope not :'(

I love the idea of this 7 (or is it 8?) Company thing.
