The first thing i noticed was DAMN THAT IS HUGE! Its true. The xbox is really massive. The controller is huges as well. On close inspection it was still huge.
Well the game was snowboarding and easy to pick up. It was mainly easy because to play it all you need is 1 control stick and 1 button. I tried pressing the other buttons but i could work out what they did.
The controller was uncomfortable to use and my hands were sweating and aching within minites. The graphics were good but the game didn't seem to be very big. there was a certain free roaming aspect but i found you couldn't get too far. Also you were as far down the mountain as you could get withing a few minuites.
I played on it for about 10 mins then got bored and wondered off. I was honestly not at all impressed. The only impressive Xbox feature were the graphics.
Ill stick with the GameCube

Ah, but the problem is, that's a helluva lot of people.
Ali.. I don't think we ever got a reply on this but between the Xbox and GameCube, which have you recieved more preorders for?
It's massive.
This is good, as you get a lot of box for your money.
And Halo.
A FPS with no ladders or end of level bosses.
And you can live in it.
> Yeah, I'm sure Xbox will fail.
*shakes head*
Why can't people just be
> pleased there are more options?
ooooooo, someone talking sense!!!! I'm gonna buy the lot of 'em (eventually). I don't care which is better coz there are things about each that attract me.
Need a new pair of mittens for when i get a gamecube though!

Yeah, its bigger than any of the other controllers. I thought of it as a hybrid of the PS2, Dreamcast and Nintendo 64 controllers. I thought it was quite good though. We can taunt little children who can't play it :)

I played that one too. I found it a little difficult to learn how to do different tricks, but the main jumping/movement controls were fine. After about half an hour of solid playing, you should become accustomed to them.

I found the controller to be much more comfortable than that of the N64 and Dreamcast. The graphics were amazing, which practically diverted me away from any notice of how short the levels were.

10 minutes is NOT long enough to test a console, my friend. I would give it at least half an hour before passing judgement, and an hour would be best. It could be that this snowboarding game was just a genuinely terrible title, as it seems that was the only one you played. A bit of a biased opinion if you ask me. Go back in and play it some more, my friend!
Ill stick with the GameCube
But have you yet to play it?
Firstly I went to Virgin, only to discover their one had broken:-) SO I went to HMV instead and found one running with Amped...
My first impressions... HOW HUUUUUUUUGGGGGEEEEE!!! This has to be the worlds largest console ever... not even my 2 bit Binatone is this big... And as for the pads... I haven't seen pads that big since the Jaguar!!
I thought the box looked cheap... thats right, cheap plastic and instead of that famous tranparent green orb on the top which we've all seen in the press, theres a piece of tacky florecent green plastic with XBOX scrawled in the center!!
The eject button is again HUGE!! You could hit that from 200 yards away with accuracy and then theres the size of the damn thing... Who styles this thing? Lego? Duplo? ANd why so big? Is it valvestate?
It's ugly, it's huge, and if I was to decide on getting one, I'd hide it from people...
As for Amped... it looked nice enough, but feels slow. not as fast as SSX Tricky and difficult to master with that damn enormous pad!!
My first impressions have definately put me off the XBOX for now unless some killer app arrives that makes me go "OOh" but untill then, i live with my PS2 and my future GCN!!
