Is it possible to get any sort of disease (i.e. tetanus) from cutting yourself on a fence?

I was climbing over a fence on a shortcut last night and it has spikes on top and I slipped and cut my palm on one of the spikes.

The cut has gone red and the skin around is soft and darker than usual.

Could I have caught something and infected it and it is worth going to the doctors?

My life is at stake, hurry!

I would think so. As mentioned you should be immunised against tetanus.

Yeah, I perform a lot of home amputations.

I once went out with a medical student, so I'm almost a doctor.
