Grand Theft Auto 3
I play that all the time. Whether it be standing on top of moving cars, shooting everything, or attempting a record Dodo flight (not bloody likely, compared with that guy um... whats his name...?)
Only good games are fun, and only fun games are addictive. Therefore, if you make an addictive game, people are bound to go for the sequel. Simple marketing strategy. And it works. Look at Final Fantasy, as an example. The storylines are great, the battling fun and the game incredibly addictive. And all of the games have been praised for their amazing-ness.
Puzzle games are like that. Tetris is simple. Tetris has poor graphics. Tetris is addictive = Tetris is freakin brilliant.
Its probably some kind of secret ingredient. Rareware have got a bucketful of it, Sega have got a mug ful and Nintendo headquarters have the vat. Simple.
So, as is asked millions of times the world over, how DO you make a good game?
Make it addictive. It works, and its proven.
Tony Hawks? Addictive + fun = multi-million franchise
Final Fantasy? = ditto
So developers take note,
since it isn't a joke,
for a good game to sell,
you need addictive-ness now,
**Good game checklist**
1. Innovation
2. Marketing
3. Graphics
4. --New entry-- Addictive gameplay.
So there it is, become addicted. Hey, they've done it with drugs, fags and alcohol, why not games as well. Only difference is, games do you a whole lot of good.
Enjoy ;-)

I was planning to build a new machine this month based on pretty much the same hardware you've listed. Unfortunately, I have to save my money for Gamecube (I'm getting A LOT of extras with it) so the PC'll have to wait for a few months. At least I can get a decent job in a week or so when I reach 16! I'm in the money...
I know 2 people who say that in the space of one week, they played each other on-line for a total of 48 hours!!
That works out at something like 7 hours a day, for a week!!
No, they have no lives!
As for me, I went out and got it from SR after x-mas. And I think i've only played it about 3 times!
I've always been addicted to the Champ manager series, and maybe i'll play it later.
*snigger*
