In the upwire recently an article was written that said the president of Capcom USA (Bill Gardner) said "If Nintendo cannot get its numbers up, particularly in Japan, we may need to reconsider keeping Resident Evil exclusive to Gamecube."
--

This has raised question marks all over the internet into what Capcom may be "considering", Well let me tell you why the series isn't shifting from the gamecube!! Resident Evil is made by Capcom JP and they have the rights where, when and how their game is released. CAPCOM USA may modify it but can only distribute the finished product (from Shinji Mikami’s Team) Bill Gardner is head of Capcom USA not Japan!!!!!!!

Still not convinced??

--
“Everyone must be surprised because the Biohazard series is now on the GameCube, but I have a clear and strong opinion about being able to enjoy all of the Biohazard games on one system. Therefore the series will be GameCube exclusive. From now on, games aren't limited to graphics only -- a balance must be reached between fun gameplay and graphic enjoyment. I feel if it isn't like this, the media itself will be endangered. Among game systems focused on graphics, we're aiming to show Nintendo's philosophy of 'fun games'.”- “Because we don't want to force our users to have to buy many systems to play the Biohazard games, we've decided to focus on one console: GameCube.”

He prefers the gamecube to any other system!!!!!

(Because of What Capcom USA openly announced Shinji Mikami tried to clear up the confusion)

"A rumor that Biohazard (Overseas name: Resident Evil) may be supplied to platforms other than Nintendo GameCube has started on overseas web sites recently. This has no basis and is not true at all. Biohazard, Biohazard 0, Biohazard 2, Biohazard 3 - Last Escape, Biohazard Code :Veronica Complete and Biohazard 4 are due to be put on the market for Nintendo GameCube exclusively as we announced on September 13th, last year. Our plans have not changed.

Resident Evil may return to the PS2 or another console because of unknown future events (like Sega ceasing production of the dreamcast) but after Survivor 2 I wouldn’t expect any games being released on anything BUT the Nintendo gamecube for at least this generation of consoles. I'm getting rather sick of buying consoles for the series and hope they stick to the Gamecube!!! (which they are)

That'll be down to the Nintendo's current lack of online plans.

Anyway, I think that Capcom are planning on topping off the entire series.
Starting the series with 0 and finishing it with 4.

And 2, 3, and CV will have minor changes/enhancements/adjustments/enhancements, but will still be recognisable as ports.

Ah right... so RE is excluive to the GC... so, out of RE 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and CV, three of the games have already appeared on other consoles, and one (RE1) is an update.

But what is really getting me confused is this:
Why has RE online only been announced for the PS2?

Doesn't this remind you of that exclusive Dreamcast game, RE:CV?

The Resident Evil series is still GC exclusive, but that only the main series was in the deal.

Little franchise Spin-off's like Survivor and this network game can go wherever.

Only Res 1 is going to be remade, Res Evils 2 and 3 are straight ports. I doubt Res Evil 4 will be the last in the series, look back to what happened with CV on the Dreamcast. They could have made that game the last in the series, if you look at the storyline of CV then you'll see that it doesn't actually move on at all. They didn't make it the last in the series because they were unsure of their footing. They said the series was going to be a Dreamcast exclusive, but they didn't wanna go all out straight away incase it failed miserably and they had no more chances left. A few months later they get around the fact that CV was a DC exclusive by releasing a slightly different version.

I reckon Res Evil 4 won't be the last in the series, but it'll string it out a bit more. Depending on how well the game and the gamecube do, they might move the series to PS2, with RE4X and RE0X. If the gamecube does well and loads of RE games are sold then they won't move it to PS2. They just wanna make money. That's another reason for them stringing the series out, it's probably their biggest seller overseas.

I never played the old Resident Evil on the N64. I was going to get it but wherever I saw it, it was at £55, a bloody rip off.

But I am hoping to get my hands on a couple of the GC versions because they look really good, and so does the Cube. :P
