Having never owned a Playstation and never being a fan it has all changed around.
I am hoping and will (hopefully) be getting a Gamecube and that was the next-gen console I hyped.
But after playing the PS2 around my friends alot i realised what a great console it is and will be, not for its hardware, but for its game.
The titles on it tempt me more then any other console. There's many I think are utter rubbish, infact most of them, its just the few classics I see appearing on this console.
So now I am thinking of buying a PS2 as I know it is popular enough to keep up with the market when the bigger boys come in. But can I really call them 'bigger boys'? They are only this because of their hardware, not games.
Here's the help part, I know all of you will say I should get a PS2 but I need comments on the games I am thinking about and and suggestions of future releases, thanks.
So here's some I am looking forward to playing soon:
GTA 3
GT 3
State Of Emergency
Jax & Daxter
Metal Gear Solid 2
SSX Tricky
Final Fantasy X
GTA 4
Devil May Cry
Tony Hawks 3
Which titles do you reccomend, any that are not on the list?
Your opinions on these games please, thanks,
MWA
GT 3 - My personal favourite - still. I love this game to bits, and still use it frequently even now. I was never bored for a moment. Its still probably one of the best looking games around as well.
State Of Emergency - Can`t really comment yet. I know little about it.
Jax & Daxter - Excellent little platformer this, thought the "puzzle" elements aren`t very puzzling. Still, its hugely enjoyable to play, and deserves a look. Also, a graphically ace game too.
Metal Gear Solid 2 - No comments necessary. Its the most hyped game ever. The demo was incredible, and the game will be bigger and better. Can`t go wrong.
SSX Tricky - Love this totally, though not as much as I thought. Despite my snowy background, I actually ended up prefering THPS3. However, this is still an extremely good game, just not the best. Number 2 for tricks.
Final Fantasy X - If you like RPGs, then you`ll have to wait a couple of months, but it`ll be worth it. IGN loved it, and many other reviewers have said the same. I can guarentee it`ll look great, but I can only go on their opinions when I say it`ll play brilliantly too.
GTA 4 - I know nothing. I think GTA3 is still to close.
Devil May Cry - Another stonker, and currently third in my PS2 chart. Its all about feeling cool, and enjoying an addictive (though slightly short) game. Great fun to play, though not for those who dislike violence.
Tony Hawks 3 - Stupidly addictive. Don`t trade this game in within a couple of hours, as its the kind of game that unfolds gradually. After three hours I`d finally begun to understand it, and its really letting loose now. Scores go up all the time, ever expanding. This is a great game.
Of the games you mentioned, I`d say the best were GT3, THPS3 and DMC of the games released so far. Then MGS2 and FFX are must haves when they are released.
Other titles to look at are Wipeout Fusion if you`re after some fast paced adrenaline pumping racing. Also, for footiee fans (talk to Pro Evo about this one) there is Pro Evo Soccer. Then there`s the atmosphere games like Silent Hill 2.
There are more, but that lot should keep you going :-)
