My birthday (2nd January) is fast approaching, and I'm wondering whether or not an X-Box would be a wise investment. As you all probably know, I own a GameCube and a Playstation 2, and my favourite games are the more original and in depth ones. For example: Deus Ex, The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time and Resident Evil.

What would there be for me on the X-Box? I like a bit of action and stealth, but usually games that require thought. Online gaming I'm not so sure about, but if it's done well for your money I might just consider it. Fable looks excellent, as does the Shenmue series so some more information on these would be useful.

Thanks for any help you can provide me with :-).

Thanks for the info guys. I'm going to pick up one of those Official £7 Buyers Guide, and see what I think. The problem is, that the X-Box seems to be relying solely on future titles to sell it. Games like Halo and Splinter Cell I can get on other formats, and top titles like Fable and Shenmue 3 are a long way off. It's most likely I'll get one next Christmas, when all the decent games are out. I don't think buying one now would be worthwhile. But, I'll buy the mag, and see how it looks from there.

Thanks again :D.

Maverick, there is absultely no point in us trying to pursuade you to buy an Xbox. The fact of the matter is that it depends whether YOU like the games. Your best bet is to go arround to a friends, or rent the console, and try out a few of the top titles.

What I will say about the console is this:

If you are a hardcore gamer, you must own the console simply for the range of original, Xbox only titles. Games like Halo, Jet Set Radio Future and all the forthcoming Rare games are games that any hardcore gamer must own.

However, if you're a bit more of a casual gamer, and won't buy a console just for one or two titles, then you should really have a look at what's on offer; it may be worth your while spending money buying games for your other consoles.

The best way to find out is to play games like Jet Set and Halo first-hand, and research in multi-format mags about their opinions of forthcoming games. (And yes, I mean MULTIformat. A good mag will compare games across differnt platforms)

The ones listed above under what I think you would like is only one 3rd of what is coming out but I think they will interest you the most. Not forgetting as well that 9/10 times the Xbox does have the best ports/multi-platform when it comes down to graphics and sound. If you don't like the Xbox standard controller the S-Controller is not too disimilar from the GameCube controller but you will have to decide for yourself which you think is the better choice.

If you are going to use the Xbox as a DVD player as well then I recommend that you buy the offical RGB advanced Scart Cable as it gets the best quality out of your games and DVD's.

At the end of it if you have around £230 spare I recommend a home cinema surround sound system so that you can utilise the Dolby Digital included with *ALL* Xbox games. Its is the only console to support Dolby Digital and believe me it is worth getting a system to utilise what is on offer.

With Xbox Live (if you decide otherwise) you will have the joy of playing people like me (you are very privilaged) on games like Halo 2/Unreal Championship etc so that we can settle are console disputes in a manly fashion ;)!

If you want anymore information on the games listed above just ask :)

I think that getting an X-Box would be a good desicion. I'm actually thinking about selling my GC for an X-Box, or I may just buy one and keep the Cube. I'm not sure yet.

Personally, I dont like my GC, the games are all crap.

Well I don't own both the games, so i cannot give you an in depth opinion, but I will tell you what I know.
Jet Set Radio is a cel shaded, in line skating game where you go round graffitying the towns. You have to defeat rival ganga in numerous ways and stop the cops from getting you. It may sound a little simple, because it is. But is by no means easy. You also have the ability to create your own graffitti to spray all over the cities/towns. New to this game is the multiplayer feature (which was'nt available on the original DC game) there are a few multiplayer games including, i think, Capture the flag (sort of thing) and tag (their are others, but it is a while sinse i played it) Overall it is a very funky well presented game and most importantly very fun

Sega GT- Is a realistic driving sim, with all the licensed cars. Their are many cars to choose from in this game and an array of different driving locations. From the demo I have played it is very realistic, but that is not my preffered style of racing games. Despite the fact that i prefer less realistic driving games, Sega GT 2002 is still a very good game, and well worth the money (well of course it is, it is free!)

Hope this helps mate
