Sorry for that unashamedly glorious outburst of love for Total Recall, but it's so good! If you missed the first five minutes you'd be excused for thinking it was just another dumb space action film starring Austria's finest export, but it's far more complex than that. For a start - is it real or just an implanted memory? Philip K. Dick is the God of sci-fi stories. Christ, he even had the nerve to write the book that Blade Runner (one of the best sci-fi films ever) was based on. as well as Total Recall.

And it's got a three boobed w***e.

And a midget w***e!

No. Then again, neither does a world generated from a computer.

You would be fine if you found out the world was run by a giant computer?

Against realistic fight sequences, a more interesting storyline, decent effects for it's time and the more realistic look. It didn't have all these black and chrome guns that mutate into whatever etc, it's more realistic.

Oh and by the way, I saw an early draft of the script of Total Recall, and the main character's name was originally Quale!

Could you imagine him being the same character with a soft name liket that!?!

Nice bit of info there, thanks. I don't think it would have taken away from the film, but it would have been weird without a doubt.

Fair comment. Why do you think it's better? We could get a good debate going here.

I love Total Recall, but I haven't seen it for so long. I must get it on DVD! Its an old film, but that just makes it even more satisfying, in that can surpass any of the new breed of Sci-Fi films out at the moment. I just remember my favourite quote in the film.

*Woman with three breasts walks on*

"I wish I had three hands."

Classic line.

Which is better, Total Recall or The Matrix? I say Recall, as it has more of a storyline to it, and its more action packed, The Matrix is a lot of talk with CGI special effects dotted around to make it controversial, so people will buy it. The casual fans and bandwagon jumpers will say it's a great film. Apologies to the legitimate Matrix fans though.
