'Violent computer games are to be regulated by a film-style classification system that will warn parents about graphic sex or horrific images.
The move comes after complaints about the content of games such as Hooligans: Storm over Europe, State of Emergency and Carmaggedon, which show graphic images of fighting, death and reckless driving.

From April all computer games sold in the EU will carry the new classifications. Those with no violent content or sex will be rated 3+, indicating the age from which they can be played. There will also be classifications of 7+, 12+, 16+ and 18+.'

Does this mean that kids under 7 can't play/buy games?

my mate who is 2 months younger than me, and he is 16 same as me. just cos he is short vergin would not sell him resident evil, then i tryed to buy 2 copies, one for me one for him they turned me down to, just cos i was buying 2 copies how do they know i weret buying it for a present or somthing. so we went round the corner and got it 1 quid cheaper. and then we went back in there and was "comparing" the prices with the one we already had. they suck.

this has a sort of relevence to the topic so i just added it.

PK, you elusive monkey! I wondered where you went, and then you change your name! Pah!

:D

Anyway, everyone will continue to break the limits, regardless if they're new or not. I can't see the point really.

What a coincidence, I wrote a topic about age limits in prime just recently.

The 3+ and 18+ classificatons already exist, along with 15+. The rest seem interesting. It's a good thing anyway because with with more age limits, less children are disappointed.. or is that a bad thing? :)

But these age limits can easily be broken, just like the already existing ones have been for the last decade.
