I wouldn't say there is an all powerful team because any pokémon can get beaten by another, a Mewtwo can get beaten even by a Pikachu and anyway in Gold, Silver and Crystal there are two more types Steel and Dark which need to be added in your team to stand a good chance of winning.
Possibly the only type that is possibly not needed in your squad are grass type except for twin types like Exegutor.
A combination of all types in your squad are highly recommended.
If you want some strong monsters in your squad then choose:
Tyranitar a Dark/Rock type which gets people by surprise it can take 3 Hydro Pumps To take this monster down. Just watch out for fighting attacks as these can take him out quick as they are Double Super Effective. Any legendary Pokémon does not stand a chance against Tyranitar.
Blissey a normal type who has a giant amount of HP it does not have much defense but the high HP covers this. Its special attack is another good point. What i do with my Blissey is use Minimize 6 times and keep seismic tossing till my opponent faints always works for me.
Kingdra the evolve of Seadra a Dragon/Water type this monster only has one weakness which is to dragon it has very high stats as well.
There are loads more as well which i am only going to write there names:
Typhlosion, Skizor, Mewtwo, Mew (Official UK), Umbreon, Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Golem and Raichu (with Surf Move)

I can not wait for pokémon crystal to come out it will be amazing.
Just think about it you will be able to play people at the other end of the world with the mobile phone adapter.
You will also be able to enter tournaments and win prizes like master balls, Mew or Celebi.
Also you can control a girl who has a pink backpack in it instead of just a boy with a blue backpack.
There is a new enemy in it who is after the legendary dog Suicune, the Unowns play a big part in this game too.
The only problem there is i think is that it will cost alot to play online because mobile call charges are very expensive over here where in America and Japan the call costs are relatively cheap.

why do people keep on saying these things ,he obviusly knows somthings about pokemon like pikachu,that the girls wear high skirts so he must watch it to notice it,he must watch a lot to notice that,you dont spot that, flickin through channels do you,
the pokemon games keep getting better and better,at first there was red and blue, these where great fun to play 150 pokemon between the two games and many puzzles and things to do to keep ypu playin for ages,then they brought out the pokemon yellow version,this was even better allowing you to satrt of with pikachu as your first pokemon,and the game was changed a little bit like differnt pokemon to catch and in difernt areas.
then there was the pokemon gold and silver versions with 250
differnt monsters to catch between the 5 differnt games.and two differnt maps to go on and lots more things to do.
now there is pokemon crystal coming out where you can chose to be a girl or boy and lets you catch the 251st pokemon celebi.
does any1 now when this game will be coming out in england?
