I’m going to start with the main event situation in the WWF. I feel that the main event wrestlers are being overused. Think of whom you would class as main-eventers. Then look at the Raw/Smackdown card. Notice that almost half of the matches contain main-eventers. So what has happened to the mid-carders? It really irritates me when you see talent wasted on Heat and Metal. A few people are going to say to me ‘The main-eventers are what the people come to see.’ NO! The show is what you see, not one or two people!
It’s usual to see main-eventers face each other even though it’s for absolutely nothing. Now instead of seeing that, you could see a couple of mid-card matches. This brings me to the next subject, the European title. It’s a joke! Look at the recent champions. Matt Hardy, The Hurricane, Bradshaw, Christian. A talented list, promised so much, yet what happened? It faded into what could be described as a waste of time. I stem the failure down to the main event. The main eventers take the majority of the time and we end up with no storylines for the people fighting for the European title. Christian could have been big as Euro champ with the Euro peeps bit but no, the WWF wasted the opportunity.
I dislike quick matches. A match that lasts 5 minutes doesn’t appeal to me. Double it and you have my attention. But then you have the problem of filling that time with action. I don’t want them to spend their time lying on the mat with either a hold or both of them down. Everyone knows that they will both get up or they will fight out of the hold. Spring a few surprises!
On to the Tag division. Explain how the Tag division has fizzled out to what could be described as poor. Yes, there are signs of improvement but it’s currently poor. Think about the great teams. Now look at the teams we have now. Tazz and Spike Dudley. Nope, it doesn’t work for me. Scotty and Albert. Talent wasted in my opinion. Scotty can get a crowd going and Albert has great ability and yet Heat is all they get. Now I like the look of Billy and Chucky. It works. Irritating, yes. Exactly what you want from a heel team. The Dudleys. They were better when they got the crowds involved, plus I like tables. The Hardys. The WWF were going to split this team because they had run out of ideas. Er, they are still together! I can’t see how they can remain a tag team but this brings me to my next point.
Splitting Tag teams that work. This is a fatal mistake in my opinion. The Hardys work, the A.P.A work, Edge and Christian worked. Edge and Christian were funny together. They worked both heel and face. Now the WWF split them up. Why? Because they wanted them as singles wrestlers. So, why split them up? You don’t need to split up a team just because you want them as singles competitors. The A.P.A have limitless possibilities but the WWF may split them up. Bad move, bad move. Keep the team; just make them wrestle on their own.
Now the introduction of the NWO and the roster split is causing me some confusion. The NWO is big and will want main event status. So, that will mean that there will be even less time for mid-carders. So, there are plans to split the roster. Could someone please explain this to me? I can’t see how this will work. It is something my brain can’t comprehend. I’m sure it will benefit the mid-carders but it just confuses me.
Now, I want to talk about the Hardcore title. The Undertaker would be better used somewhere else. I loved the Hardcore title when Crash, Hardcore Holly, Raven, Rhyno, the Mean Street Posse, fought for that title. It made the Hardcore title in my opinion. Crash instigated the 24/7 rule and the title was brilliant from then. Bring back the old division!
The Light Heavyweight title is a joke. The division is a shambles. There are a number of Light Heavyweights so use them!
Then we have Vince McMahon to end the rant. There are reports that Vince writes most of the main event storylines and, of course, puts himself in them. LEAVE THE STORYLINES TO THE WRITERS! What the heck are you paying them for if you write the big storylines yourself? Vince needs to stay out of it. At least let the scriptwriters write Vince into their storylines.
There you have it. Hope you enjoyed reading it. Of course, I would like your opinions on the rant and, of course, some of your opinions.
Cheers for reading.
Grandprix.
You seem to have created a topic that everyone wants their say in Grandprix. Well done!
But anyway, back to the banter...

I most certainly

Heh, that was great. Other great moments: Christian excersing in Kurt Angle's chicken suit to loose enough wait in 1 hour to be able to fight for the Lightheavyweight title. Also, when they had those damn kazoos and were playing loads of theme music, until Triple H got testy and made them leave. Ah, the days of E & C ruled. Now they stink. Christian jobbed to DDP and Edge has turned into a complete sadist.
Latest news is that the Roster Split is exciting the Cruiserweight wrestlers. This is because the division's matches are expected to take place on Smackdown, meaning they'll have a decent schedule for it and more concentration on the title.
Hopefully for me, this is a good chance to bring Grandmaster Sexay back, making the division consist of these wrestlers:
GMS
Scotty 2 Hotty
Tajiri
Spike Dudley
Tazz
Jerry Lynn
Crash
Funaki
possibly Hurricane, Christian and lots of upcoming developmental talent.
Looks quite good, and I'm sure some of the Cruiswerweights from WCW are ready to make the step over, meaning a superb division.
Roll on WWF Roster split.
I most certainly agree aboot the Edge And Christian thing, I mean they were so funny, for example when they were trying to get out of title defences when Mick Foley was the Commish that was sooo funny. They tried to pretend to be ill etc, it was great entertainment. Also in the Hardcore thing you said I agree but I think RVD should of been in there as well.
"It really irritates me when you see talent wasted on Heat and Metal."
Too bloody right! The wasting doesn't annoy me as much now, because their better wrestlers are no longer in the WWF. Take a look at Taka Mitchinoku in early 1998-99 and see how he went from being the best Lightheavyweight Champion ever to a stereotypical retard. The same goes for Essa Rios - both have amazing aerial talent, and WWF can't look beyond racial lines before jobbing them down to Heat and Metal.
"A few people are going to say to me ‘The main-eventers are what the people come to see.’ NO! The show is what you see, not one or two people!"
Those people are ignorant idiots. Personally, I watch PPV's for the high-flying and technical matches. I am normally bored after watching a 25-minute match of two wrestlers utilising the same moves before a screwjob finish, which leaves the fans in an excited mood, which they hadn't been for at least half an hour, considering the quality of main events. However, give me RVD .vs. Benoit any day over Austin .vs. Rock.
"This brings me to the next subject, the European title. It’s a joke! Look at the recent champions. Matt Hardy, The Hurricane, Bradshaw, Christian. A talented list, promised so much, yet what happened?"
Well, Bradshaw is hardly talented, but that's irrelevant. This happened once before in 1999, and Shane McMahon actually retired the title (once winning it himself, of course). It was better in retirement than being subjected to this horrible treatment, which the title does not deserve. This goes back to sterotypicalising anything that isn't white or American. They can't be bothered wih the belt because they see it as insignificant.
"I dislike quick matches. A match that lasts 5 minutes doesn’t appeal to me. Double it and you have my attention. But then you have the problem of filling that time with action. Quick matches can be good. For example, if you see Essa Rios .vs. Taka Mitchinoku (in their best form) in a 5-minute match, it will be the best 5-minute match you will ever see, because they are young, fast and flashy, unlike Stone Cold. This is not a rant directly at Stone Cold or the main eventers, but they can not be compared to the TALENT of the aforementioned "wasters", so to speak.
"On to the Tag division. Explain how the Tag division has fizzled out to what could be described as poor."
This is a classic WWF period. They will have a crappy period, followed by a short period of great matches, and this formular will repeat. The Newage Outlaws title reign in 1997 is the best title reign I have ever seen. It amazes me that it is yet to be beaten in 4 years.
"Splitting Tag teams that work. This is a fatal mistake in my opinion."
It is often a mistake, but the same old tag team gets casual fans bored, and because they make up the majority of the audience, they want to please the fans (or the casual ones at least!). It's nice when teams stay together for years at a time, I agree.
"Now the introduction of the NWO and the roster split is causing me some confusion. The NWO is big and will want main event status. So, that will mean that there will be even less time for mid-carders. So, there are plans to split the roster. Could someone please explain this to me?"
They're not bringing in all 20+ members of the NWO, only Hogan, Nash and Hall. I doubt there will be another roster split, and if there is, I will kick a hole through my TV.

Undi does not belong in the Hardcore Title division - he belongs in Intercontinental/World for christs sake! It should go back to Crash and co, because it ruled then!
"There are reports that Vince writes most of the main event storylines and, of course, puts himself in them. LEAVE THE STORYLINES TO THE WRITERS! Vince sucks - full stop ;)
C'mon WWF, light up the Light Heavyweight division.
Also, Taker as the Hardcore Champ is just terrible because none of the other contenders for the Hardcore Title could beat him. We need him and Kanes slugging it out and someone like Rhyno coming back and pinning one of them when they have battled it out and got weak.
Nice rant. :D
