Well, as inexorably as the world turns, another Notable Election is fast approaching us. Before I go any further, this is not a "campaign" from me - I have never made one of those and never will. So those of you who are looking for one can leave now.

Gone?

Good, then we can continue. I'm just going to type my thoughts on the election as a whole. The result will probably be a complete load of rubbish and entirely unreadable, but who cares? Exactly.

In my opinion, the main "candidates" for the election are, in alphabetical order:

Armitage Shanks
Bonus
I Am The Tarrant
Mr Nice Guy
SlaveUnit
SSXPRO
Turbo
Venombyte
YH (that's me).

Ok, so they may not be around the forums that much, but they post QUALITY STUFF, stuff that's worth reading. It doesn't have to be long meaty topics, but funny comments as well. It's all about making the forums what they are, serious posts, film talk, game talk, jokes, politics - whatever.

It just has to be why you come to the fourms each day. The peoples posts who you'll read first. Names that you look out for, regardless of the title of the thread, or number of replies.

In my view, my list covers those people. Unlike some people whose names seem to be getting mentioned. And yes, my name is on that list.

Think it's big headed? Possibly, but it's the truth, in my view anyway.

The notable vote is a sign of respect given to certain memebers of the forums. NOT your friends. You should vote for someone who helps make the forums what they are. If you're going to vote for your mate, or vote for someone just because they post alot, then you are taking all meaning away from the vote, and the title of Notable, making it worthless.

It's also been mentioned that "real" notables don't have to start a campaign, as they don't have to beg for votes, which I agree with completely. These campaigns are filled with "I'll stop all spamming when I'm elected" etc. To which I ask "How are you going to do that, sunshine?".

The answer is, they can't. You could say that the campaigns are just a bit of fun, which is how they started off with er-no's campaign. But some people always take things too far, and at the last election it was ridiculous, with most of Chat being filled with campaign threads.

It makes no difference to me whether I get 0 votes, 5 votes or 40 votes. I'll keep posting away, as I always have, as I always will. Admittedly I haven't been around much recently, but that was out of my control and hopefully I'll be back to my full posting strength over the next couple of weeks or so. Besides, I'm determined to get to 500,000 words before Rasta :-P

So, to sum up, vote for who you want. Just make sure they deserve your vote before you press that "Post This Message" button.

Here's what I have to say about the Notable elections.

I don't deserve it, I know I don't most of my best posts go into the WWF Forum so that's maybe why people who go there would like to see me rise to the ranks of a Notable.

However I agree with Stryke when he says that people follow the opinions of the already made notables. Also what's all this about no campaigning? Fair enough I've seen it get out of hand with stupidness but what if we want to do it as a laugh? You know a witty campaign which is just basically a lot of fun but it seems as though everyone is far too scared to post one as to be called someone who begs for votes and gets bombaded with abuse.

It's just no fun no more.

I'd add Strafex and SONICRAV to that list too.

Stryke deserves a few votes, even though he hasn't been here as long as others.

In fact, if your name begins with 's' you're alright!

Vote for the person who you want to have a gold name. The winner gets a gold name. It ain't the Houses of Parliament.

Yep, plenty of people who get mentioned are undeserving. And that is also down to personal opinion. We can all be as modest as we like, but if you can say I deserve to be notable, thats fine.
