After just reading about what you need to get started in OPSM2, i don't think i will be playing online PS2 games. Apart from the obvious things you need like a PS2 and a Memory card, you need to buy The Broadband gaming pack for £45. Thats not too bad i would get that but the Broadband connections packages are just too much to pay every month.

NTL has about the best deal - £24.99 a month but thats only for Cable.

Then theres Telewest which is about £60 more than NTL.

To connect via phoneline:

BT's is £65 activation charge + £85 for the modem and filters that allow you to use the phone at the same time + £27 a month!

A tad expensive if you ask me.

Sounds like a good deal, I am sure over the next 12 months the cost of broadband will drop maybe down to £15 per month.

Well, it doesn't say that for NTL, no.

It just says "Free Installtion + £24.99 a month. Nothing about other costs

Oh yeah, I had to pay £50 for the connection including a network card. But there must be the same set up costs for the NTL package.

I certainly wont be playing games on-line. Its all gonna fail, I just cant see anyone paying that kind of money, or at least not enough to class it as a success.

A bit confused by that, I have Telewest Broadband and it only costs me £25 per month. But to answer your question it will depend on if there is a monthly subscription and how much, over a £5 and probably not.
