Yes, his dad was killed by the guy he was trying to catch, that's why the Mountie bloke goes to Chicago (I think) In the first place.

Then in the very last episode he finally tracks him down and kills or arrests him. He also falls down a well or something, and his dad AND mum appear as ghosts, and they go off to live their afterlife happily ever after.

And Cananda has as Prime Minister, and unlike the U.S they aren't independant of us :)

They have their own government, but technically whenever they pass a new law I beleive it has to go through us first :)
