After Sunday's episode, I coincidentally went upstairs and played a bit of The Getaway and all the drama in the cut scenes suddenly struck a thought in my head... what if Springer had his own game?
Check it out.
------------------------------------------------------
Firstly, it would be for the PC because that's where most of the design and creation games like Rollercoaster Tycoon are based and secondly, it would obivously have to have the (18) tag on it because let's be honest, it's not exactly going to have Mario and his friends in it now is it?! This too is going to be more of a player design game, but with added extras like movie cinematics. Here's how it would work.
Intro
The game begins with highlighted and edited scenes from current Springer shows, with Jerry's flirtatious grin blinding the camera and those guests bashing the hell out of each other. Baldy headed Steve has to appear somwehre in the intro as well as the odd food fight special here and there. Then, the intro will slowly fade out with the crowd chanting "Jerry" numerous times.
After all this mumbo jumbo, a "Press Start" screen will appear with a cheesy Jerry Springer paste and the show's original soundtrack, which runs all the time through the select screens. Enter the game and you'll be confronted with a list of modes:-
Exhibition
Marathon
VS Battle
Bonus Specials
Create-a-Player
Rewards
Options
There are a number of motives to the game. Control Springer, and you have to try and survive the show without the guests trying to kill each other more than 10 times. Control Steve (or any other steward), and your aim would be to try and break up as many feuds as possible with the odd crowd pleasing moments, which earn you bonus scores. The type of characters you want are limitless thanks to the Create-a-Player mode, so there's lots of fun to be had.
Exhibition
First select what kind of show you would like, in other words, the difficulty level.
Easy would be those really boring shows where the guests just sit, talk and cry all the way through.
Medium would be the type of show that no one can tell if something major's going to happen or not.
And Hard would be the blatant shows that you know is going to have a lot of arguing and fighting.
You are already given a number of characters in this mode, but you can make your own in Create-a-Player. The character select screen has three groups: 'Roughnecks' which are cowboys and Ma'ams from Alabama and all that, 'The Hood' which is mainly a selection of those hyper active gangsters and hookers you get from America's east and West side, and 'The Sleezeballs' who are basically the soft ones that never think violence is the answer, which you're supposed to in this game.
Once you've chosen your character and the other character(s) you want on your side and against you as the com, the computer then randomly selects a storyline from the huge database of plots it has and you're away!
The main objective for whichever character you chose is to deliver your role as efficiently and well as you can. You receive Springer points all the way through depending on certain scenarios in the show.
The camera glides around the studio as the audience chant "Jerry" numerous times. Then out of nowhere pops Springer holding his card and microphone with a massive grin on his face, thanking the crowd. The crowd calms down and depending on the story the computer picked, Jerry begins in a motion captured sequence. Let's just say for this example the difficulty setting was on medium, you chose two characters from the 'Roughnecks' section (a man and a woman) and the show was called "One Night Stands". Jerry would say "Hello, and welcome to the Jerry Springer Show! Tonight we meet people who cheated on their lovers for one night only, but maybe their last!" *Audience Ooohs* Then it would go on to Jerry introducing his first guest which would be the character the computer randomly chooses as the cheater. At this point, you the player is held in suspense because you do not know whether it's you or your opponent (the computer) who's the cheater. But your character is chosen anyway in this example and your role is revealed. The computer then moves to another motion captured movie sequence of your character telling Jerry the story of the one night stand, with the crowd "oooing" and "giggling" certain times, and it is when Jerry asks you certain randomly chosen questions that you can score springer points depending on how radical your reply was from the huge range of possibilities given onscreen. But then the game also has what are called "shockers" where the computer actually shocks you the player by introducing harder tasks in the game. In this example, your character (the cheater) also reveals that he and his fionce are engaged to be married.
At this point, if you chose to control Jerry you are given two onscreen options - either to bring out the one night stand first, or his fionce first - creating two different scenarios. In this case you didn't select Jerry so the computer decides to bring out the fionce first. The crowd cheers her on as she enters, then all the drama comes out as the cheater lays his cards down to his fionce who either gets totally mad and lashes out at him or bursts into tears depending on the difficulty setting you chose. This show is on a medium setting so anything could happen, but let's just say in this situation she ain't too pleased and slaps him across the face, waiting in aniticipation for the "b#tch" he slept with to come out. You, the cheater, can also score Springer points if you choose the correct answer to your fionce's questions from the bunch.
Then, Jerry introduces his final guest, the one night stand, and the crowd "BOOS". If you chose the fionce as your character then this is where you have a lot of fun because not only does this game let you choose your own scenarios and create your own guests, it also allows you to beat the living daylights out of your enemies, who for the fionce in this show is the woman that slept with her soon to be husband. You can now pull of Springer combos like 'hair-pulling', 'slapping', 'punching', 'kicking', 'spitting', 'biting', 'scratching', 'head-butting', 'niple twists', 'nose grab', 'ear tug' and even 'eye poking'. Luckily for you, these earn you a good dosage of Springer points, so you become more likely to be the winner of the whole show, against the two other characters. But Jerry Springer and Steve could perform their roles perfectly and beat your score so if possible you should try out those combos on both of them as well. But you have to choose which actions to use on them wisely or you could get chucked out the studios, which means 'game over' for you!
There would have to be a huge amount of detail in the game with loads of storylines, questions to be asked, a huge list of possible answers, character detail and so on, but it could work.
Marathon
This is the Story Mode for other games, meaning yes, this is where you unlock thos Bonus Specials. Here, you travel through almost some sort of career in the Jerry Springer Show, which could lead to anything depending on the character you chose or created yourself. Then, things happen mostly like they did in Exhibition Mode with Springer points and combos and all that, only that it becomes more and more difficult to win, depending on the storyline the computer places you in. In Marathon, you have to go through 5 series each holding 40 shows, so this isn't your ordinary complete in a week game!
As you progress through each series, the task of gaining the most Springer points in the shows becomes harder and harder, as do your opponents. Steve reacts more quickly, Jerry asks a lot more harder questions and with that you start being given possible answers that are more difficult to decide on. Do well in a show and you'll be rewarded with backstage viewings and events with even more "shockers" and score maximum Springer points and you'll even be given an aftermath of what happened to each character after the show.
Also, do well in each series and you'll unlock more characters, different Springer Studios and more Create-a-Player items (more clothes, hairstyles etc). With every available character you use for the Marathon mode, you do not encounter the same scenarios, cut scenes, questions nor possible answers. Everything remains different each and every time, so Springer and gaming fanatics should simply rejoice!
After all the hard and tiresome work through the five series, you're given a full length viewing of one of Springer's finest shows, each being different depending on the given character you choose for Marathon mode. You're given up to 50 characters with 15 extra ones to be unlocked so as a total you get to watch and did I mention SAVE up to 65 of the finest Jerry Springer shows on your hard drive. Again, Springer fans rejoice!
This mode is certainly the most in depth in the game and will probably take you about a year or two of serious gaming to complete. Guiness Record holder for the longest game ever made, easy.
Bonus Specials
What are those bonuses I hear you ask? Well, there are a number of unlockable bonus specials.
FOOD FIGHT - You'll have to undergo certain special shows in Marathon like "Weirdos and Wonders", but from the off you and a couple of mates cannot access these special shows (which I must add are the most fun). But as a bonus special you can! This show allows you to score major Springer Points as well as cause total studio mayhem. Chucking chocolates cakes, doritos, simply anything and what's more you can also select what kind of meal you would like arranged for the guests - Indian, Italian etc.
WEIRDOS & WONDERS - Another special show to be unlocked, and another of the moest enjoyable in the game. Here, you can create your own weirdest characters and put them for display on Jerry's show. YOu could create a vampire in a coffin, a man with loads of needles all over his body, people who claim to have supernatural powers, a person that walks around naked but you can't tell because of the millions of tattoos they have...anything! The possibilities are endless, and this takes the designing feature of the game to its limits!
LADIES/MENS NIGHT - I think you can already guess what this is about. Perform well enough in three shows in a row in Marathon mode and you're given this feature that allows you and a friend (if they want to) to strip to the audience. Here, the aim of the game is to perform as many strip combos as possible ('shake ya ass' etc etc) to try and fill in the audience meter to its maximum. If you achieve that you have completed your objective. Here, you can also choose to dance with a partner, choose what kind of music you want (moby, pink etc) and the computer does the rest with the lighting effects and so on. Phenomenal!
BE THE STUDIO GADGEY - Probably one of the most enjoyable and innovative part of the game, here, you are given the opportunity to control and be a studio guide for any selected Springer show. You are given a number of banners saying things like "BOO", "Scream", "Chant Jerry" and even "que audience member no.1 feels Steve's bald head". This amazing feature to the game needs timing and precision, knowing when to raise the correct banners at the correct time, otherwise the TV ratings meter will reach a down low and once it does it's 'game over'.
HYPER ACTIVE MOP (Member of Public) - Occasionally in Marathon mode, a lot of wacky and outrageous things happen, one being those mad wrestling fans in the audience taking over the show with crazy actions. So this is precisely what this bonus special gives you the opportunity to do. You are given a certain list of controls like in the taunts section you can make your character stand up during the show, scream and do certain wrestling star taunts, like Xpac's "suck it", and so on. Also, you are given a huge amount of possible funny questions for the guests and funny remarks towards the guests, which could cause them to attack you. But never fear, Stever is here! This bonus feature is mainly for a laugh, and a lot of laughs for that matter. You and a friend can even partner up as friends in the audience and reap havoc together. It's insane!
There are loads more bonus specials that can be unlocked like "Jerry's Sumo Special" where you can control Sumo wrestlers and fight on stage, and "Boxing for Revenge" where characters get the opportunity to seek revenge on their past enemies in the ring.
VS Battle just allows you and a couple of mates to attack the Springer Show together, which is very enjoyable, but if you really want the best out of the game's multiplay, the Bonus Specials are best for you.
This game would also allow you to save your best and funniest shows and watch them entirely in Options mode. You can even unlock Create-a-Studio mode, which (as its title hints) allows you to design your own Jerr Springer studio and use it for any show. You can make it as wild, wacky and wonderful as you thanks to the game's superior array of create features.
In Rewards mode, the computer simply compiles the list of things you have unlocked and are yet to be unlocked in the game.

As you have probably guessed by now, this game would be a mighty achievement for any group of developers this day and age, but definitely in the future, I can see such a powerful game being made.
(Only if you did) Thanks for Reading
