Just out of interest, what do you think would happen to GC sales if the PS2 lowered in price to £150 before launch?

Add to that, if Sony launch a big marketting streak at the same time...

Sony's strategy is hopeing you pick up a PS2 even if it's a second choice, In this interview with some sony bloke he said the GC and Xbox are stronger but they're hoping GC and Xbox buyers would also pick up the PS2 due to it's great library of games and build in DVD player, especially with the recent Japanese price drop to £160.

Nintendo clearly think they will not do to well hence the low price....and they have lowered the GBA proce to 50 quid

I think it would harm sales of the GC, but probably not that much. As it still seems to be the case that a lot of Nintendo buyers are 'hardcore' gamers who would want the console anyway. As for your general man/woman off the street, they might go for Sony even at it's current price as it's seen as the 'safe' option, and is a more recognised brand outside of gaming circles. But then again, who can second guess the buying public?

I don't think that they can really be arsed to do that sort of thing. The PS2's already a big success, the Gamecube is already doing well enough in Japan/USA to go out of business, and Sony wouldn't be able to detract the hardcore fans anyway.

Sony could have Tekken 4, Virtua Fighter 4 and FFX out by the GC launch. Also MGS2 will still be popular.

I still think the GC will do well. I am getting one in the summer, because Resident Evil is on it. The GC will have its appeal the right sort of people.

I think there would be an even bigger battle than there would have ever been which would be mighty interesting. Then we really would see which console has the better appeal and people would really buy the consoles because of what games there was available on the console.
