First thing I notice is the receipt. The place I bought it from has a no refund policy.
So I'd better now screw this up then, had I?
As if I'd be that stupid...
Well, anyway. I thought I'd better fit the modem. "Made in Taiwan. Quality assured" read the sticker. No discernable company markings anywhere, either. Still, if it works, I don't care. It soon became clear however, that it didn't quite fit in the PCI slot. It was too small. My suspcions were shortly confirmed by the plume of black smoke which started rising from the modem when power was supplied.
So I took it out again.
So... I now have a probably fried modem, of some unknown make, and I have no idea what sort of slot it fits into, and can't get any sort of refund on it.
I'm not stupid, honest. I'm just careless....

That normally really hacks them off, and they never do it again. If I buy something, I ALWAYS check their user rating - that's what it's for! :p

Another auction ending in about 4 hours. Should be able to get a modem there for just over a tenner. And it's definitely a PCI modem this time, too.
