I've just realised why the xbox controllers come apart in the middle.

Joygasim - No more 'mate trips on lead, pulling console to floor from four feet' Hopefully.

I think that the things should still be a bit more quick release, somehow, a bit like anti seatbelt, sudden jolt, thing goes loose now instead.

Gotta admit though, its a very good idea, as the demise of my PS2 came when I pulled it off my shelf...

It never worked properly after that.

In reality though, you would have to tie the xbox controller to the back of your car and drive off to have the thing fall off a shelf....

Your damn right its heavy, thats the only thing I probably regret about getting rid of my PS2, it was a bit more 'portable' than my xbox.

This is rather funny and is true. Microsoft had to do it because of a reason i think it was some weird law. As with ther consoles if you foget to put the controller down and start walking away the console falls over. Now if someone was to do this with the xbox and it fell on someone it could seiously hurt them because of it wait so microsoft put things int he middle. If you go and try pull your controller away they will come out and the console stays where it is.

Anyone got any other ideas on how consoles could be physically improved to ease use?
