ermm can someone tell me why these are 2 different things? sexism is sexism no matter what sex is being discriminated against.
this also goes for all other kinds of isms floating around the world

Whats wrong with being sexy?

Sexism is an attitude taken by either sex which puts one sex in a superior position to the other. This in itself is a from of discrimination, in that it say one thing is bad and another is good.
How can any form of discrimination be positive? Somebody will still have been discriminated against. The guy with no legs who gets awarded money for having no legs...what about all the people who have the right number of legs? Should they get some recognition for that? Positive discrimination can usually be found lurking around Equal Opportunities which is just more legislation against white, able-bodied, heterosexuals.

So 'postive discrimination' and 'sexism' are the same thing, i.e. a load of crap.

yea kinda degenerated back into that. still up for marching in trafalgar square and burning our boxers demanding equal rights though

ah well sibs what can us people in the majority do? i mean you open a door for a lady now your seen as sexist you don't open it your seen as a rude sexist. i mean you can't win at all

because nowadays, do anything that could be percieved as an 'ism' (eg. give a male a job when there were some female applicants) then it is 'wrong'...

Everyone's so bloody scared of being politically incorrect, and the government inplements dumb@*s laws that ENCOURAGE discrimination rather than trying to stamp it out...

i don't mean stuff like that. i mean something like a company has to employ a certain number of female staff to top the figures up so therefore men don't get the job. things like that

Positive Discrimination is when someone is discriminated and it has a positive effect. Say, a man in a wheel chair is awarded money for being legless. Although they are pointing him out, because of his disability which can be known as discrimination, they are doing a positive effect.
