It came up today, in I.T, as usual our i.t teacher was blabbing on about something, and we were talking about computer games, well, i was, they were just spouting out crap.T
his is how it went.

F1."I got The Getaway last night, it's so good"

Me "The getaway is a piece of over-indulgent and over hyped peice of crap"

F1. "No it's not, it's excellent, it's the best game on the ps2"

Me "No it's a pile of steaming dog t**d"

F2. "Your just saying that because it's not on Gamecube"

Me. "No i'm not, it really does suck"

F1. "Oh yeah then, what' the best game on gamecube then"

Me "Propobly, Metroid prime"

F2. "Metod what?"

Me."Metroid prime"

F1." I've never heard of it, it must be crap then2

F2. "Yep Besides it's on the gamecube, so it's bound to suck"

Me. "The only reason you havn't heard of it is because it isn't out here yet, once it's out you'll hear about it"

F1. "No i won't, it'll suck, i mean come on, the console pink!"

Me. "It's purple actually"

F1. "Oh, that's much better"

* Then some retards, (you know the ones are in the "IN" crowd, and own a console because of coolness and not cos of gameplay), over hears us and interups*

Retard 1. "The gamecube sucks, it's only for children"

Retard 2. "Yeah, any one who owns one is sad"

F2. "simon owns one"

Retard 1 " Do you?"

Me. "Yes"

Retard 2. "Hahahaha, what are you?, two years old?"

Me. "No, i just don't need to have the "coolest" and sadest console, just because everyone else has it, i'm not quite that sad"

F2. "Hey, ps2 is the coolest, gamecube sucks"

Me. "If you knew anything at all about gaming, you'd see it, but you know nothing, you just own a console to pretend to be cool."

*F1 and F2 ask people sitting around us which they think is better, everyone sas ps2, half of the people who answer don't even have consoles at all"

F2 "See Ps2 is better"

Me "Wel, you won't have it for long soince ninty are sueing them, you woudn't have your console if it wasn't for nintendo"

*No-one spoke about the subject till we got outside*

F3. "I got a ps2 for xmas"

Me. "Poor sod"

*It all starts up again and repeats itself*


I think i need to get some new friends, ones that arn't complete retards!

The only person I know in my year that has an Xbox is also fed up with it and hasn't played it since May.

My best friend bought a PS2 when i first came out, he used to play it a lot but he hasn't bought a new game for it in 6 months. So I'm still friends with him and I didn't once tell him the PS2 was crap, and he didn't say anything about the GC because he doesn't own one to know anything about it.
We don't talk gaming that much anyway.

Syphonical isn't a fanboy - he's just a GameCube owner in a fanboy's world. It's hard not to come across biased, when uninformed people call undoubtedly amazing games such as Mario Sunshine (and I quote) "for ten year olds".

The best thing to do, is when you're alone with one of your friends (so when they can't be backed up by everyone else that surmounts to peer pressure), show them a GameCube magazine or just get talking about it. It also helps if you like the PS2, too.

That's what I do, and I've now got another friend who owns a GameCube (so that's five of us now) and a good few considering it. That's what a little persisitence will do, so keep at it - and don't be afraid to tell your friends that they're "sheep".

Well, if you are complainign about fanboys, why did you start the argument both times? You are twice as bad as the other fanboys..... the only difference is that you new what you were talking about. But you are clearly a fanboy all the same

You pretty much showed that you are almost as much an uninformed fanboy as them, due to your complete dismissal of The Getaway, which is quite good, plus your answer to "Best GameCube Game" as Metroid Prime - seeing as it isn't out over here you can't have played it extensively. You're quite hypocritical; trying to show that they just think everything you mention is crap just because they don't own a GameCube - possibly true - but then you do exactly the same thing to The Getaway. I believe you've also made yourself out to be a lot more calm and cool than you were. You sound like James Bond in that.

My conclusion is that you don't need new friends, you seem to fit in fine with the ones you have.

You are slating the PS2 and calling it utter rubbish (although I agree to an extent) so after reading that I can't work out who is the fanboy?! Anyway, we read these all the time and we all know that they do exist, but does it matter? Yes the PS2 has a lot of fans but you are bound to get more people saying it is the best because of the GTA games (a very poor argument but you are wasting your time trying to say anything to them)! If you ask them what they will get after completing The Getaway (in around 1 hour) then they probably wouldn't be able to reply. This doesn't really happen at my school as one person has a PS2, one a GameCube and 5 an Xbox and we talk mainly about football anyway.

Yes, you need to get new friends!
