Videogame companies like Nintendo, Sony & especially RARE are very secretive. Who knows what is being worked on in their R & D departments? Playstation3 could be finished for all we know.
My point is that information only creeps out when the company involved wants it to.
We all thought Zelda Gamecube was going to be realistic looking adventure, but Nintendo fooled everyone with it's new look (who knows, they might have even changed that look now?) The screenshots & video weren't leaked at all, they were a massive surprise, unveiled by Nintendo when they wanted it shown.
Which leads me to the Gamecube....
As we all know, Nintendo was to announce the European launch details for Gamecube in Cannes on Feb 5th.
So why would they now have an underwhelming launch announcement on Jan 28th??
Then this web broadcast is 'leaked' before the 28th!
Would Nintendo's big surprise slip out?
Maybe that video is to throw people (& competitors) off the scent, and the proper date will be announced, as planned, in Cannes, in a lavish ceremony.
May 3rd is a bit far away, and i , like many others, was hoping it would be March or April.

I may be wrong, May 3rd might be the right date, or maybe the big N has another suprise up it's sleeve.....here's hoping.

Actually, I don't think it was nonsense, I know it was a huge amount of XBox's that had faults in chip placement or something. Shows you.. its Microsoft. You pay a lot for a little.... who wants a middle market average PC? oh oh... ha

Game, where did you get the 55% figure form. That's plain nonsese. It was actually about 5%, while the PS2 had a defect rate of 10% at launch. Where's the 55% from?

You watch...

Nintendo will announce the 3rd of May, then bring it forward at Milia. I hope they don't rush it though, because, like Microsoft, loads of the consoles will be faulty!

*55% of X-Boxes were faulty... that's because Microsoft rushed it out before GameCube and Christmas.

I'm not too bothered about the launch date, because ive got MGS2, SOE, Maximo and Wipeout Fusion to get through first... and nothing except PIKMIN really appeals to me at launch... I might even wait until SFA is out.

I know that COmputer and Video Games said they had found a 'reliable source' to say it was May 3rd, but what could that be? And anyway, One of the two facts is probably lying, as I very much oubt EA would release two games 3 weeks before the console. All will be revealed tomorrow, I suppose...

I think May 3rd is DEFINATELY the final date, that will be it's release date for almost sure.
And when you think about it, EA are doing right by releasing these games a month early cos lets face it there hardly gonna be Million sellers in a week or two so they need all the publicity they can get, I played ssx tricky on the PS2 and I was'nt overly immpressed and i'm sure many others share this view so it does kinda make sense when you think about it.
Now lets hope Nintendo bring out black and orange consoles as well on release, please Nintendo make it happen! :)

Nintendo fo Europe are pretty inept when it comes to keeping things secret.

I never thought they'd be able to keep this quiet until Monday, once it was confirmed on Thursday that they would be making the announcement.

May's a good date for Nintendo. We were expecting April anyway, so what's another month?

£150 and 20 launch titles is great news.

yeah, I had similar ideas, (just check out the Ninty forum topic 'The (European) Nintendo Conspiracy' for my ideas) and this seems to becoming a pretty popular theory. It seems to have too many discrepencies for it to be May 3rd... the April date of EA games, stores were actually saying it was going to be April 5th, and Ninty releasing info early, when they clearly stated Monday?

Maybe we are all putting 2 and 2 together and getting 64, but it's not THAT far fetched... but I wouldn't get your hopes TOO high...
