However these styles will be sewn together through a plot that I just made up about 30 seconds ago, so I don’t really know what the repercussions could be. Anyway, you will play as a military figure that in one way or another is helping the war effort for the allies against the Nazi Empire. However, cleverly you will not play the same soldier all the way through. You will be chopping and changing between various types of military might, that would play a genuine part during the war effort.
Such military figures will be:
The spy: This will be a stealth role played between the third person perspective and the point and click adventuring styles. Most of the time you will be infiltrating secret German compounds in a sort of Hitman 2 approach. However when you arrive at specific places you will shift into the point and click style as you search objects in real time for information that could be useful in sabotaging the enemy and gaining the upper hand.
The infantry soldier: This will be played in the First person shooter style, and will be reminiscent of great like Medal of Honour and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. You will play a key role in many historical battles, including The Omaha beach landings and various other well documented incidents as you battle your way to the frontline.
The Paratrooper: This position will see you jumping into enemy lines and re-enforcing companies that have been weakened. Many incidents from the BBC production “Band of Brothers” will feature in this style including “Operation Market Garden” And the battle in Bastogne.
The General: This will feature the Real Time Strategy element of play, and will see you creating bases and tactical positions from which to strike the enemy. They use of key positions and real time physics will see you gain the upperhand, as you use flanking positions and elevated positions to your advantage. This will utilise the same engine as that used in the forthcoming Command and Conquer: Generals to deliver highly detailed 3D gaming environments.
The game will switch between each character relatively frequently so that key battles are fought and the players reveal critical information themselves in a chronological order. All in all the game will encompass some 18 missions, distributed as evenly as possible between the units, and will feature real time mission objectives which will change dependent on their possible advantages to the allies.
The game will be multiformat, but I am expecting a call from Microsoft offering me £50 million for exclusivity any day now.
