Apparently, Nintendo of Europe are really pulling out all the stops to make the GameCube a success in Europe.
All I can say is, 'bout bleedin' time too.
Apologies though, can't post the link since it's prohibited, but take my word for it.

errr... this was quoted from tthe EDGE FORUMS- not edge! The edge forums are JUST LIKE these forums- writen by game lovers... not game makers!

Just out of interest, where does it say this is Edge?

Reading down here someone said 60Hz is all good and well only if the developer can be bothered to implement it.
However, with GameCube all that will be a thing of the past and every game will run at full speed and full screen. Developers wont have to worry about optimising their software because GameCube will do it all for them.
Some geezer from Edge said this
"When you turn on your PAL GameCube, hold down the 'B' button and it'll boot up in 60Hz mode. The machine remembers that you like the 60hz good stuff, so you don't have to do it every time; it holds the preferences in SRAM. It will also feature proper RGB support. Seriously, NOE's really trying to pull out the stops this time around."
With the DC development kits, making a 60Hz option was easy as pie- why else did the vast majority of games use it.
Whne done properly, 60Hz options are absolutely fantastic... the PS2 games with 60Hz don't really give any marked improvement... it's all to do with the way the dev kits impliment it.

My old TV didn't support it and the dreamcast games looked ok.
My new TV however does and the games look much sharper and more detailed (although I also have a bigger screen)
It can depend on the TV itself.
Yeah, Son'y attitude to 60Hz is a little lacklustre, but then, it's not Sony's doing. All their games have 60Hz, and aside from put 60Hz in the criteria in Q&A (which is very Nintendo) they can't do anything about it. After all, 60Hz isn't such a big deal. I always run Burnout at 50Hz, because it has advantages. Even then, no 60Hz support isn't a great loss.
