Point your browsers to the OFFICIAL European Gamecube site on Monday Morning when this site will go live.
Apparently all will be revealed, units allocated, price and best of all the release of the system with an actual date!
At long last!.
The site is not up and running at the moment as webmasters are working on it adding touches. (Try to go on it, it asks for a password)
It will include a LIVE announcement, hopefully with video or the bog standard audio.
But hey, it's a start. Just think- An 'Actual' announcement.
Nintendo actually are Producing now, at this minute... European Gamecubes!!
Upwire, here on Special Reserve will apparently have an announcement too on Monday.
upwire.com
So what do you think the prices will be?
I'll have a guess at £149.99 for the console, £25 for the Controllers with £15 being for the Memory Cards.
Games I'll have a guess at £39.99 1st+2nd Party with 3rd Party developers discs retailing at £44.99-£49.99.
I could be wrong, but i don't think im far off.
Heres to Monday morning........
Oh yes, and:
The PS2 is specifically designed to play only 3D games. VU units, massive bandwidth, I'm not going to explain because you wouldn't understand (or accept) it. Basically, it plays 3D games and it plays them very well and very efficiently. The Xbox and to a lesser extent the GameCube use an ancient tried-and-tested design, based on specification laid down by IBM in the 1980's. Sure, the play 3D games just like PCs do, but the hardware isn't setup up for it and isn't used to its full potential. The Xbox is more suited to word processing than a console, because sadly Microsoft and Nintendo haven't spent as much time on them.

What? never heard of a Fisher Price fun lunch box, rather than the PS2, the Gamecubes design is compact and with a purpose too.
> Not really that powerful.
> Despite what people think.
Equal graphics to the GameCube, I'll have you

Equal?? Hah dont make me laugh!!
From what ive seen PS2 Doesn't compare in visuals to the GC, the PS2 is sub standard in that front.
> Most
> games look awful in visuals.
I have 17 games and none of them are
> awful
I have 12 PS2 Games and we where promised groundbreaking visuals, which i don't see at all on the PS2. In fact i havent seen a game on PS2 that could not be handled by the Dreamcast, in some cases DC Visuals are better.
I own 40 Dreamcast titles, so I should know.
> Framerate problems.
Erm, where?
GTA3 for one.
> Absolutley hard
> to develop for, supposedly worse than Saturn.
Not hard, just different.
> You're getting the two confused. It's different because it's actually *designed*

You are so wrong, think about what you just said and back that up.
> Styles itself as a

Oh, I see. I must have been imagining myself

Yes you must be imagining! Top quality...pah!

Not poor at all

From what I have seen, very much so. The PS2 is EXTREMELY poor compared to GC visuals.

I'll think you

I think you'll find that Sony have not 'produced' Development studios for itself, merely 'buying' Studios because they cant develop themselves. Or are no good at it.
> Most games on
> PS2 can be found on GC/XBOX.
Most I don't think. "Some" would be
> more accurate.
No, from this Summer....MOST will be on GC with 'Superior' visuals. FACT.
> Most people have a DVD player and dont need an extra

What's your point? If you don't need it, don't use it. The DVD

Then why is it £200???
> The Controller is basically no different to its PS1

Again, what's your point? The

Very true, but my original point is still right.

I seem to be lablled as a Sony zealot, yet I

Am I?
I own a PS with 53 games.
I own a PS2 with 12 games.
I own a Sony Trinitron TV.
I own a Sony Video.
I own a Sony DVD Player.
Plus a SNES with 25 games, Megadrive with 10 games, Dreamcast with 40 games. N64 with 44 games.
And not to mention a Gameboy/Colour/Advance totalling 15 games.
I merely speak the truth, what do you want or prefer me to do? to tell lies about the PS2 pretending that it's top class?
> Compare GC Rogue Leader to PS2 Jedi Starfighter.
What

> Leader is too.
Yes but compare them, in terms of visuals!
so, check out the conspiracy...
(or have they got to you too?)
If a gaming console can be delayed with an announcement. It can also be brought forward.
(well anyway, I am praying that)
I have to get the Linux PS2, purely for the sheer geek factor of running Linux (Debian, maybe?) on a games console. Ooooh...
...and
> I'd really like to know where you heard this, because the PlayStation 2 is the

errrrr... but it's still damn hard to get your head around.. I was talking to a developer friend of mine yesterday, and he's getting bogged down and being forced to use middleware
Sonic

...and I'd really like to know where you heard this, because the PlayStation 2 is the most efficient console ever. That's how it manages to squeeze so much juice out of its specs.
Go to Nintendo Forum, and then read my post 'The (European) Nintendo Conspiracy' to check out MY theory... [Cue X-files music]
Oh, and do it before SR realise I know too much, and have me killed, and erase all my topics...
;-)
When exactly did he say this? Show me then I'll believe
> you. I'm sure he doesn't find it 'horribly awkward'.
There's been several statements about it.
It's been on Digitiser, various magazines (yes, I know they're biased Nintendo ones, but they DID quote his words exactly), there was a fairly recent example on www.tendobox.com, but not recent enough to still be on the site...
When these statements are made, they're posted across most of the forums, so that's something you can keep an eye out for when GaD winner choosing.
